हरि प्रबोधनी एकादशी…

उत्तिष्ठोत्तिष्ठगोविन्द त्यजनिद्रांजगत्पते। त्वयिसुप्तेजगन्नाथ जगत् सुप्तमिदंभवेत्॥

उत्तिष्ठोत्तिष्ठवाराहदंष्ट्रोद्धृतवसुन्धरे।हिरण्याक्षप्राणघातिन्त्रैलो क्येमङ्गलम्कुरु॥

एक भक्त ने महाराजजी से पूछा कि, महाराजजी ऐसा कोई उपाय बताइए जिससे की पाप भी  समाप्त हो जाय और पूण्य व मुक्ति की प्राप्ति हो साथ ही कुल का भी उद्धार हो जाय? वाल व्यास सुमनजी महाराज कहते है कि, एक बार ऐसा ही सवाल मुनिश्रेष्ठ नारदजी ने अपने पिता ब्रह्माजी से पूछा था, तब ब्रह्माजी ने नारद को हरि प्रबोधनी एकादशी के महात्यम के बारे में बताया था. महाराजजी कहते हैं कि, अगर आप संस्कृत बोलने में असमर्थ हैं तो आप “ उठो देवा, बैठो देवा ” कहकर श्रीनारायण को उठाएं. पद्म पुराण के उत्तरखण्डमें वर्णित एकादशी-माहात्म्य के अनुसार देव उठनी या प्रबोधनी एकादशी का व्रत करने से एक हजार अश्वमेध यज्ञ तथा सौ राजसूय यज्ञों का फल मिलता है. परम पुण्य एकादशी के विधिवत व्रत से सार पाप भस्म (नष्ट) हो जाते हैं, तथा व्रती मरणोपरान्त बैकुण्ठधाम को जाता है.

पुराणों के अनुसार भगवान विष्णु चार महीने तक राजा बली के दरवाजे पर निवास करते हैं और कार्तिक शुक्ल पक्ष एकादशी को लौट जाते हैं इसी कारण कार्तिकशुक्ल एकादशी के दिन को देव उठनी या हरि प्रबोधनी एकादशी के नाम से जानते हैं. महाराज जी कहते हैं कि, इस एकादशी के दिन साधक श्रद्धा के साथ जो कुछ भी जप-तप, स्नान-दान, होम करते हैं, वह सब अक्षय फलदायक हो जाता है.

व्रत विधि: –

वाल्व्याससुमनजीमहाराज कहते है कि, जो साधक देव उठनी या प्रबोधनी एकादशी का व्रत करते हैं, उन्हें प्रात:काल उठकर घर की साफ-सफाई और नित्य कर्म से निवृत्त होकर स्नान करे, उसके बाद घर में पवित्र जल का छिड़काव करें. घर के पूजा स्थल पर भगवान श्री हरी की मूर्ति स्थापित करें , उसके बाद षोड्शोपचार सहित पूजा करें. इसके बाद भगवान श्याम सुंदर वासुदेव को पीतांबर पहनाएं, उसके बाद व्रत कथा सुननी चाहिए. तत्पश्चात मधुसुदन की आरती कर प्रसाद वितरण करें. अंत में लक्ष्मीपति भगवान विष्णु को सफेद चादर से ढँके गद्दे-तकिए वाले पलंग पर सुलाना चाहिए.

पूजन सामाग्री: –

वेदी, कलश, सप्तधान, पंच पल्लव, रोली, गोपी चन्दन, गंगा जल, दूध, दही, गाय के घी का दीपक, सुपाड़ी, शहद, पंचामृत, मोगरे की अगरबत्ती, ऋतू फल, फुल, आंवला, अनार, लौंग, नारियल, नीबूं, नवैध, केला और तुलसी पत्र व मंजरी.

ब्रह्मा और नारद संवाद: –

ब्रह्माजी बोले- हे मुनिश्रेष्ठ! अब पापों को हरने वाली पुण्य और मुक्ति देने वाली एकादशी का माहात्म्य सुनिए. पृथ्वी पर गंगा की महत्ता और समुद्रों तथा तीर्थों का प्रभाव तभी तक है जब तक कि कार्तिक की देव प्रबोधिनी एकादशी तिथि नहीं आती. नारदजी अपने पिता से कहने लगे हे पिता! एक समय भोजन करने, रात्रि को भोजन करने तथा सारे दिन उपवास करने से क्या फल मिलता है सो विस्तार से बताइए.

ब्रह्माजी बोले- हे पुत्र। एक बार भोजन करने से एक जन्म और रात्रि को भोजन करने से दो जन्म तथा पूरा दिन उपवास करने से सात जन्मों के पाप नाश होते हैं. जो वस्तु त्रिलोकी में न मिल सके और दिखे भी नहीं वह हरि प्रबोधिनी एकादशी से प्राप्त हो सकती है. मेरु और मंदराचल के समान भारी पाप भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं तथा अनेक जन्म में किए हुए पाप समूह क्षणभर में भस्म हो जाते हैं. जैसे रुई के बड़े ढेर को अग्नि की छोटी-सी चिंगारी पलभर में भस्म कर देती है.

विधिपूर्वक थोड़ा-सा पुण्य कर्म बहुत फल देता है परंतु विधि ‍रहित अधिक किया जाए तो भी उसका फल कुछ नहीं मिलता है. संध्या न करने वाले, नास्तिक, वेद निंदक, धर्मशास्त्र को दूषित करने वाले, पापकर्मों में सदैव रत रहने वाले, धोखा देने वाले ब्राह्मण और शूद्र, परस्त्री गमन करने वाले तथा ब्राह्मणी से भोग करने वाले ये सब चांडाल के समान हैं. जो विधवा अथवा सधवा ब्राह्मणी से भोग करते हैं, वे अपने कुल को नष्ट कर देते हैं. परस्त्री गामी के संतान नहीं होती और उसके पूर्व जन्म के संचित सब अच्छे कर्म नष्ट हो जाते हैं.

जो गुरु और ब्राह्मणों से अहंकारयुक्त बात करता है वह भी धन और संतान से हीन होता है. भ्रष्टाचार करने वाला, चांडाली से भोग करने वाला, दुष्ट की सेवा करने वाला और जो नीच मनुष्य की सेवा करते हैं या संगति करते हैं, ये सब पाप हरि प्रबोधिनी एकादशी के व्रत से नष्ट हो जाते हैं. जो मनुष्य इस एकादशी के व्रत को करने का संकल्प मात्र करते हैं उनके सौ जन्मों के पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं. जो इस दिन रात्रि जागरण करते हैं उनकी आने वाली दस हजार पीढि़याँ स्वर्ग को जाती हैं. नरक के दु:खों से छूटकर प्रसन्नता के साथ सुसज्जित होकर वे विष्णुलोक को जाते हैं. ब्रह्महत्यादि महान पाप भी इस व्रत के प्रभाव से नष्ट हो जाते हैं. जो फल समस्त तीर्थों में स्नान करने, गौ, स्वर्ण और भूमि का दान करने से होता है, वही फल इस एकादशी की रात्रि को जागरण से मिलता है.

हे मुनिशार्दूल। इस संसार में उसी मनुष्य का जीवन सफल है जिसने हरि प्रबोधिनी एकादशी का व्रत किया है। वही ज्ञानी तपस्वी और जितेंद्रीय है तथा उसी को भोग एवं मोक्ष मिलता है जिसने इस एकादशी का व्रत किया है. यह विष्णु को अत्यंत प्रिय, मोक्ष के द्वार को बताने वाली और उसके तत्व का ज्ञान देने वाली है. मन, कर्म, वचन तीनों प्रकार के पाप इस रात्रि को जागरण से नष्ट हो जाते हैं. इस दिन जो मनुष्य भगवान की प्रसन्नता के लिए स्नान, दान, तप और यज्ञादि करते हैं, वे अक्षय पुण्य को प्राप्त होते हैं. प्रबोधिनी एकादशी के दिन व्रत करने से मनुष्य के बाल, यौवन और वृद्धावस्था में किए समस्त पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं. इस दिन रात्रि जागरण का फल चंद्र, सूर्य ग्रहण के समय स्नान करने से हजार गुना अधिक होता है. अन्य कोई पुण्य इसके आगे व्यर्थ हैं. अत: हे नारद! तुम्हें भी विधिपूर्वक इस व्रत को करना चाहिए. जो कार्तिक मास में धर्मपारायण होकर अन्न नहीं खाते उन्हें चांद्रायण व्रत का फल प्राप्त होता है. कार्तिक मास में जो भगवान विष्णु की कथा का एक या आधा श्लोक भी पढ़ते, सुनने या सुनाते हैं उनको भी एक सौ गायों के दान के बराबर फल मिलता है.

वाल्व्याससुमनजीमहाराज कहते है कि, किसी साधक को एकादशी व्रत करना हो तो आपको, एकादशी व्रत के नियम का पालन दशमी तिथि से ही करना चाहिए. दशमी के दिन स्नान-ध्यान, भगवान सूर्य को अर्घ्य देने के बाद भोजन करना चाहिए, लेकिन भोजन शुद्ध व शाकाहारी होना चाहिए,”ध्यान रखें कि लहसुन,प्याज और तामसिक भोजन का त्याग करना चाहिए”. एकादशी के दिन ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठें, स्नान आदि से निवृत होकर भगवान विष्णु की पूजा फल, फूल, धुप-दीप, अक्षत, दूर्वा और पंचामृत से करें. व्रत के दिन निराहार उपवास रखे, तथा संध्या में आरती करने के बाद फलाहार करें, साथ ही रात्री में जागरण अवश्य करें. दुसरे दिन द्वादशी के दिन स्नान आदि से निवृत होकर पूजा-अर्चना करें, उसके बाद अपने सामर्थ्य अनुसार ब्राह्मणों को भोजन करवाए और दान दें, उसके बाद व्रती को भोजन करना चाहिए.

ध्यान दें…. एकादशी की रात्री को जागरण अवश्य ही करना चाहिए, दुसरे दिन द्वादशी के दिन सुबह ब्राह्मणो को अन्न दान व दक्षिणा देकर इस व्रत को संपन्न करना चाहिए.

एकादशी का फल: –

एकादशी प्राणियों के परम लक्ष्य, भगवद भक्ति, को प्राप्त करने में सहायक होती है. यह दिन प्रभु की पूर्ण श्रद्धा से सेवा करने के लिए अति शुभकारी एवं फलदायक माना गया है. इस दिन व्यक्ति इच्छाओं से मुक्त हो कर यदि शुद्ध मन से भगवान की भक्तिमयी सेवा करता है तो वह अवश्य ही प्रभु की कृपापात्र बनता है.

Hari Prabodhani Ekadashi…

A devotee asked Maharajji, Maharajji, can you tell me some solution by which sin can be eliminated and virtue and salvation can be achieved and the family can also be saved? Val Vyas Sumanji Maharaj says that once Munishrestha Naradji had asked a similar question to his father Brahmaji, then Brahmaji had told Narad about the Mahatyam of Hari Prabodhani Ekadashi. Maharajji says that, if you are unable to speak Sanskrit then you should lift up Shri Narayan by saying “Utho Deva, Baitho Deva”. According to Ekadashi-Mahatmya mentioned in the Uttarakhand of Padma Purana, fasting on Dev Uthani or Prabodhani Ekadashi gives the results of one thousand Ashwamedha Yagyas and hundred Rajasuya Yagyas. By observing the ritual fast of Param Punya Ekadashi, all sins are destroyed and the devotee goes to Vaikuntha Dham after death.

According to the Puranas, Lord Vishnu resides at the door of King Bali for four months and returns on Kartik Shukla Paksha Ekadashi, that is why the day of Kartik Shukla Ekadashi is known as Dev Uthani or Hari Prabodhani Ekadashi. Maharaj ji says that on this Ekadashi, whatever the devotee does with devotion like chanting, penance, bathing, donation or home, it all becomes fruitful.

Fasting Method: –

Valvyassumanji Maharaj says that the devotees who observe fast on Dev Uthani or Prabodhani Ekadashi should wake up early in the morning and take a bath after cleaning the house and doing their daily routine, and then sprinkle holy water in the house. Install the idol of Lord Shri Hari at the worship place of the house, after that worship with Shodshopachara. After this, Lord Shyam Sundar Vasudev should be dressed in Pitambara, after which the fast story should be heard. After that perform Aarti of Madhusudan and distribute Prasad. Finally, Lakshmipati Lord Vishnu should be made to sleep on a bed with mattress and pillow covered with a white sheet.

Pooja material: –

Vedi, Kalash, Saptadhan, Panch Pallava, Roli, Gopi sandalwood, Ganga water, milk, curd, cow ghee lamp, betel nuts, honey, Panchamrit, Mogra incense sticks, seasonal fruits, flowers, Amla, pomegranate, cloves, coconut, Lemon, sweet lime, banana and basil leaves and Manjari.

Brahma and Narad Dialogue: –

Brahmaji said- O great sage! Now listen to the greatness of Ekadashi which removes sins and gives liberation. The importance of Ganga and the influence of seas and pilgrimages on the earth is there only till the Dev Prabodhini Ekadashi date of Kartik arrives. Naradji started saying to his father, O father! Tell in detail what are the results of eating at one time, eating at night and fasting all day.

Brahmaji said – O son. Eating once will destroy the sins of one lifetime, eating at night will destroy two lifetimes, and fasting for the whole day will destroy the sins of seven lifetimes. The thing which cannot be found or seen in Triloki can be obtained from Hari Prabodhini Ekadashi. Even heavy sins like those of Meru and Mandarachal are destroyed and the sins committed in many births are burnt to ashes in a moment. Just like a small spark of fire burns a big pile of cotton in a moment.

A little virtuous action done in a lawful manner gives a lot of results, but even if more is done without a lawful manner, it yields nothing. Those who do not observe Sandhya, are atheists, criticize the Vedas, corrupt the scriptures, are always engaged in sinful activities, cheat Brahmins and Shudras, go to other women and enjoy the pleasures of Brahmins, all of them are like Chandalas. Those who consume food from a widow or a virtuous Brahmin destroy their family. An adulterous woman does not have children and all the good deeds accumulated in her previous birth are destroyed.

The one who talks arrogantly to Guru and Brahmins is also inferior in wealth and children. One who commits corruption, one who enjoys Chandali, one who serves the wicked and those who serve or associate with mean people, all these sins are destroyed by fasting on Hari Prabodhini Ekadashi. Those people who just resolve to observe the fast of this Ekadashi, their sins of hundred births are destroyed. Those who keep vigil at night on this day, their ten thousand future generations go to heaven. Freed from the sorrows of hell and equipped with happiness, they go to Vishnuloka. Even great sins like Brahmahatya etc. are destroyed by the effect of this fast. The same results that one gets by taking bath in all the pilgrimages, donating cows, gold and land, one gets by staying awake on the night of this Ekadashi.

Hey Munishardul. The life of only that person is successful in this world who has observed the fast of Hari Prabodhini Ekadashi. Only that knowledgeable person is ascetic and Jitendriya and only he gets enjoyment and salvation who has observed fast on this Ekadashi. It is very dear to Vishnu, it tells the door to salvation and gives knowledge of its essence. All three types of sins – mind, actions and words – are destroyed by vigil on this night. On this day, those people who bathe, donate, perform penance and perform Yagya for the pleasure of God, attain eternal virtue. By fasting on the day of Prabodhini Ekadashi, all the sins committed by a person in childhood, youth and old age are destroyed. The benefit of staying awake at night on this day is a thousand times more than taking bath at the time of lunar or solar eclipse. Any other virtue is useless before this. Therefore O Narad! You should also observe this fast methodically. Those who remain religious and do not eat food in the month of Kartik, get the benefits of Chandrayaan fast. Those who read, listen or narrate even one or half a verse of the story of Lord Vishnu in the month of Kartik get the reward equivalent to donating one hundred cows.

Valvyassumanji Maharaj says that if a seeker wants to observe Ekadashi fast, then he should follow the rules of Ekadashi fast from Dashami Tithi only. On the day of Dashami, one should take bath, meditate and eat food after offering Arghya to Lord Sun, but the food should be pure and vegetarian. “Keep in mind that garlic, onion and tamasic food should be avoided”. On the day of Ekadashi, wake up in Brahma Muhurta, after taking bath etc., worship Lord Vishnu with fruits, flowers, incense sticks, Akshat, Durva and Panchamrit. Keep a fast on the day of fasting, and after performing Aarti in the evening, eat fruits and do Jagran at night. On the second day, on Dwadashi, after taking bath etc., do puja, after that feed and donate food to the Brahmins as per your capacity, after that the fasting person should have food.

pay attention…. Jagran must be done on the night of Ekadashi, this fast should be completed by donating food and Dakshina to Brahmins on the next day in the morning on Dwadashi.

Result of Ekadashi: –

Ekadashi is helpful in achieving the ultimate goal of living beings, devotion to God. This day is considered very auspicious and fruitful for serving the Lord with full devotion. On this day, if a person becomes free from desires and does devotional service to God with a pure heart, then he definitely becomes blessed by the Lord.
