माना जाता है कि छठ पूजा के रूप में जाना जाने वाला सूर्य भगवान को सम्मानित करने और उनकी स्तुति करने का त्योहार वैदिक काल से माना जाता है. व्युत्पत्ति के अनुसार, छठ शब्द दो शब्दों से बना है: च, जिसका अर्थ है 06 चरण और हठ, जिसका अर्थ है हठ योग (तपस्या) का विज्ञान. एक साथ मिलकर छठ का अर्थ है छह चरणों के माध्यम से सूर्य से सौर ऊर्जा प्राप्त करने की प्रक्रिया. चार हिंदू वेदों में से एक, ऋग्वेदमें सूर्य भगवान की पूजा करने वाले भजन शामिल हैं और छठ के दिन किए जाने वाले इसी तरह के अनुष्ठानों का वर्णन करते हैं.

ऐसा कहा जाता है कि कुरुक्षेत्र के महान युद्ध में पांडवों के खिलाफ लड़ने वाले सूर्य (सूर्य) के पुत्र कर्ण ने भी छठ का अनुष्ठान किया था. इतिहास के किसी समय में, यह माना जाता है कि इस अनुष्ठान को व्यापक रूप से मान्यता मिली और तब से पीढ़ियों से इसे आगे बढ़ाया गया है. आज, छठ पूजा जो देश के कई हिस्सों में मनाई जाती है और चार दिवसीय अनुष्ठान है जिसमें सूर्य देव को उदारतापूर्वक, सभी प्रकार के कल्याण के साथ-साथ प्रार्थना, स्तुति और सांसारिक से परहेज के माध्यम से कुछ इच्छाओं की पूर्ति के लिए सम्मानित किया जाता है.
सुख लोकप्रिय मान्यता यह भी है कि सूर्य देव की पूजा करने से कुष्ठ रोग भी दूर हो जाता है और परिवार की लंबी उम्र और समृद्धि सुनिश्चित होती है. यह सख्त अनुशासन, पवित्रता और सर्वोच्च सम्मान के साथ है कि अनुष्ठान किया जाता है. और एक बार जब कोई परिवार छठ पूजा करना शुरू कर देता है, तो यह उनका कर्तव्य बन जाता है कि वे इस परंपरा को आने वाली पीढ़ियों तक पहुंचाएं. इस तरह प्राचीन अनुष्ठान वहां पहुंच गया है जहां वह आज भी भक्तों के बीच सर्वोच्च सम्मान में है. छठ पूजा इतिहास: सूर्य पूजा का सबसे भव्य रूप माना जाता है, देश भर में लाखों लोग उपवास और पूजा में भाग लेते हैं. प्रार्थना और प्रसाद (भोजन की पेशकश), जिसमें मिठाई और फल शामिल हैं, भक्तों द्वारा सूर्य भगवान को अर्पित किए जाते हैं.

The festival to honor and praise the Sun God known as Chhath Puja is believed to date back to Vedic times. Etymologically, the word Chhath is made up of two words: Cha, meaning 6 steps, and Hatha, meaning the science of hatha yoga (penance). Taken together, Chhath means the process of receiving solar energy from the Sun through six steps. The Rigveda, one of the four Hindu Vedas, contains hymns worshiping the Sun God and describes similar rituals to be performed on the day of Chhath.
It is believed that the rishis munis of that time abstained from food and absorbed the energy completely and directly from the sun’s rays. It is said that following the advice of the great sage Dhaumya, Draupadi resorted to Chhath Vrat after seeing the Pandavas in unbearable hardship. It is said that Karna, the son of Surya (Sun), who fought against the Pandavas in the great war of Kurukshetra, also performed Chhath rituals. At some point in history, this ritual is believed to have gained widespread recognition and has since been passed down through generations. Today, Chhath Puja which is celebrated in many parts of the country is a four-day ritual in which the Sun deity is revered for benevolence, all kinds of welfare as well as the fulfillment of certain desires through prayer, praise, and abstinence from the worldly.
Sukh Popular belief also has it that worshiping the Sun God cures leprosy and ensures the longevity and prosperity of the family. It is with strict discipline, purity, and utmost respect that the rituals are performed. And once a family starts performing Chhath Puja, it becomes their duty to pass on this tradition to the generations to come. This is how the ancient ritual has reached where it is held in the highest esteem among devotees even today. Chhath Puja History: Considered the grandest form of sun worship, lakhs of people across the country participate in fasting and worship. Prayers and prasad (food offering), which includes sweets and fruits, are offered by devotees to the Sun God.
This ritual is generally performed on the banks of rivers, mainly on the banks of the Ganges River which flows through the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. A huge gathering of devotees running for miles can be seen on the banks of the river Ganges. In other parts of India, any other small water body like a river or a pond is considered an ideal place to perform rituals. Chhath Puja takes place in the month of March-April or October-November.
