- स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सत्येंद्रनाथ बोस:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1882 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सत्येंद्रनाथ बोस का जन्म मिदनापुर में हुआ था. अरविंद घोष के प्रभाव से वे क्रांतिकारी आंदोलन के संपर्क में आए थे. अरविंद ने जतिन बनर्जी को वर्ष 1902 में बड़ौदा के लिये इस उद्देश्य से भेजा था कि वे बंगाल में क्रांतिकारियों के संगठन को बढ़ाएं. सत्येन्द्रनाथ बोस गरम स्वभाव के व्यक्ति थे. उनके विचार लोकमान्य तिलक, अरविंद आदि से मिलते थे. किंग्सफोर्ड की हत्या कराने के लिये खुदीराम बोस को सत्येंद्र बोस ने ही खोजा था. किंग्सफोर्ड पर आक्रमण की घटना के बाद अवैध तरीके से हथियार रखने के कारण सत्येंद्र बोस को 2 महीने की सजा हुई और उन्हें अलीपुर जेल भेज दिया गया था. एक मुखबिर को जेल के अंदर खत्म करा देने के कारण उन्हें फांसी के फंदे पर लटका दिया गया था.
- डॉ० मुत्तुलक्ष्मी रेड्डी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1886 में भारतीय चिकित्सक एवं सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता डॉ० मुत्तुलक्ष्मी रेड्डी का जन्म तमिलनाडु (तब मद्रास) के पुद्दुकोट्टै में हुआ था. उनके पिता नारायण स्वामी अग्र महाराजा कॉलेज में प्रोफेसर थे और उनकी मां चंद्रामाई देवदासी समुदाय से थीं. मुत्तुलक्ष्मी को भी बचपन से ही पढ़ने के लिए काफी कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ा. मैट्रिक तक उनके पिता और कुछ शिक्षकों ने उन्हें घर पर ही पढ़ाया और परीक्षा में सर्वाधिक अंक अर्जित करके प्रथम स्थान पर रहीं. अपनी मेडिकल ट्रेनिंग के दौरान की एक बार मुत्तुलक्ष्मी को कांग्रेस नेता और स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी सरोजिनी नायडू से मिलने का मौका मिला. यहीं से उन्होंने महिलाओं के अधिकारों और देश की आजादी के लिए लड़ने की कसम खा ली. वर्ष 1927 में मद्रास लेजिस्लेटिव काउंसिल से देश की पहली महिला विधायक बनने का गौरव भी हासिल हुआ था. देवदासी प्रथा को खत्म करने के लिए मुत्तुलक्ष्मी रेड्डी ने कट्टर समूहों से विरोध का सामना किया. मुत्तुलक्ष्मी ने मद्रास विधान परिषद के समक्ष प्रस्ताव पेश करते हुए कहा था कि देवदासी प्रथा सती का सबसे खराब रूप है और ये एक धार्मिक अपराध है, जिसको जड़ से समाप्त करना चाहिए .
- इतिहासवेत्ता गोविन्द चन्द्र पाण्डे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में इतिहासवेत्ता गोविन्द चन्द्र पाण्डे का जन्म इलाहाबाद, उत्तर प्रदेश के पहाड़ी ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था. पाण्डे ने काशीपुर से माध्यमिक शिक्षा एवं उच्चतर माध्यमिक शिक्षा परीक्षाएं दोनों ही प्रथम श्रेणी के साथ उत्तीर्ण कीं और उसी दौरान रघुवीर दत्त शास्त्री और पण्डित रामशंकर द्विवेदी जैसे उद्भट विद्वानों के सान्निध्य में व्याकरण, साहित्य एवं शास्त्रों का पारम्परिक संस्कृत माध्यम से गहन अध्ययन किया. गोविन्द चन्द्र पाण्डे ने ऋग्वेद की अनेक कविताओं का सरस हिन्दी काव्यानुवाद भी किया था.
- राजनीतिज्ञ सीस राम ओला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1927 में राजनीतिज्ञ सीस राम ओला का जन्म राजस्थान के झुंझुनू जिले के अरड़ावता नामक गाँव में एक जाट कृषक परिवार में हुआ. उनके पिता का नाम चौधरी मंगलराम ओला एवं माँ का नाम सोनी देवी था. उन्होंने मैट्रिक तक शिक्षा प्राप्त की. वर्ष 1948 में वो अपने गाँव अरड़ावता के सरपंच चुने गये और 1951 तक वहाँ के सरपंच रहे. सीस राम ओला वर्ष 1957 और 1962 के राजस्थान विधान सभा चुनावों में खेतड़ी विधान सभा क्षेत्र से भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के सांसद भी रहे. ओला को सैनिक कल्याण कार्यों एवं बालिका शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में विशिष्ट योगदान के लिए भारत सरकार ने पद्मश्री से अलंकृत किया था.
- 16वें मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1945 में सिविल सेवक नवीन चावला का जन्म नई दिल्ली में हुआ था.
- भारतीय लेखपाल एवं आतंकवादी याकूब मेमन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1962 में भारतीय लेखपाल एवं आतंकवादी याकूब मेमन का जन्म हुआ था. बताते चलें कि,12 मार्च,1993 को मुंबई में हुए सीरियल बम ब्लास्ट के मुख्य दोषीयों में एक था. पेशे से चार्टर्ड एकाउंटेंट और भारत का एक नागरिक था जो आतंकवाद के दोष में जुलाई 2015 तक भारत में फाँसी पाने वाला अंतिम व्यक्ति था.
- गायक सोनू निगम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1973 में गायक सोनू निगम का जन्म फरीदाबाद, हरियाणा में हुआ था. सोनू निगम चार साल की उम्र से गाते आ रहे हैं. बताते चलें कि, उन्होंने सबसे पहले अपने पिताजी के साथ मंच पर मोहम्मद रफ़ी का गीत ‘क्या हुआ तेरा वादा’ गाया था. उन्होंने शास्त्रीय गायक उस्ताद ग़ुलाम मुस्तफ़ा ख़ान से शिक्षा ली. करीब 19 वर्ष की उम्र में अपने पिता के साथ गायन को अपना व्यवसाय बनाने के लिए मुम्बई आ गए. सोनू मुख्य रूप से टी-सीरीज़ की रफ़ी की यादें नामक एल्बमों के लिए मोहम्मद रफ़ी के गाने गाना शुरु किया. टी-सीरीज़ के मालिक गुलशन कुमार ने उन्हें ज़्यादा लोगों तक पहुँचने का अवसर दिया. बताते चलें कि, पार्श्व गायक के रूप में सोनू ने अपना पहला गीत फ़िल्म ‘जनम’ के लिए गाया, जो कि कभी औपचारिक तौर पर रिलीज़ ही नहीं हुआ. सोनू को बड़ी सफलता उस वक्त मिली जब उनका हुआ गाना “अच्छा सिला दिया तुने मेरे प्यार का” हुआ. सोनू ने अपनी अलग पहचान बनाई है और आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए मिसाल बन गए हैं. उन्होंने कई फ़िल्मों में पार्श्वगायन किया है और कई पुरस्कार भी जीते हैं.
- आर्थोपेडिक सर्जन बिष्णुपद मुखर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1979 में आर्थोपेडिक सर्जन बिष्णुपद मुखर्जी का निधन हुआ था.
- अभिनेत्री उशोशी सेनगुप्ता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1988 में अभिनेत्री उशोशी सेनगुप्ता का जन्म कोलकाता में हुआ था. सेनगुप्ता की पढ़ाई सेंट जेवियर्स कॉलेज (कोलकाता) से हुई है.नेवादा में आयोजित मिस यूनिवर्स 2010 में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व उशोशी सेनगुप्ता ने किया साथ ही उशोशी ने मिस यूनिवर्स इंडिया का खिताब भी जीता था.
- तुलबुल परियोजना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2004 में भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच तुलबुल परियोजना पर बातचीत बिना किसी सहमति के समाप्त हो गई थी.

- पावर ग्रिड की बड़ी खराबी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2012 में भारत में पावर ग्रिड की बड़ी खराबी के कारण 30 करोड़ लोगों को बिना बिजली के रहना पड़ा था. बताते चलें कि,29 जुलाई को दोपहर करीब तीन बजे आगरा-ग्वालियर विद्युत लाइन ध्वस्त हो गई थी. उसके बाद उत्तरी क्षेत्र की मांग को पूरा करने या पश्चिमी क्षेत्र के अधिशेष बिजली उत्पादन को कम करने के लिए कोई महत्वपूर्ण कदम नहीं उठाया गया था.
- अर्थशास्त्री सुबीर गोकर्ण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2019 में अर्थशास्त्री सुबीर गोकर्ण का निधन मैरीलैंड, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में हुआ था.

- Freedom fighter Satyendranath Bose:- On this day in the year 1882, freedom fighter Satyendranath Bose was born in Midnapore. With the influence of Arvind Ghosh, he came in contact with the revolutionary movement. Arvind sent Jatin Banerjee to Baroda in the year 1902 with the aim of increasing the organization of revolutionaries in Bengal. Satyendranath Bose was a hot-tempered person. His views were similar to those of Lokmanya Tilak, Arvind, etc. It was Satyendra Bose who had found Khudiram Bose to get Kingsford murdered. After the attack on Kingsford, Satyendra Bose was sentenced to 2 months for illegal possession of arms and was sent to Alipore Jail. He was hanged for killing an informer inside the jail.
- Muthulakshmi Reddy: – On this day in the year 1886, Indian physician and social worker Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy was born in Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu (then Madras). His father was a professor at Narayan Swami Agar Maharaja College and his mother Chandramai was from the Devadasi community. Muthulakshmi also had to face a lot of difficulties to study since childhood. Her father and some teachers taught her at home till matriculation and she stood first by scoring maximum marks in the examination. Once during her medical training, Muthulakshmi got a chance to meet Congress leader and freedom fighter, Sarojini Naidu. It was from here that she vowed to fight for the rights of women and the freedom of the country. In the year 1927, the distinction of becoming the country’s first woman legislator was also achieved by the Madras Legislative Council. Muthulakshmi Reddy faced opposition from radical groups for ending the devadasi system. Muthulakshmi, while presenting a proposal before the Madras Legislative Council, had said that the Devadasi system is the worst form of Sati and it is a religious crime, which should be eradicated.
- Historian Govind Chandra Pandey:- On this day in the year 1923, historian Govind Chandra Pandey was born in a Pahari Brahmin family in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Pandey passed both secondary education and higher secondary education examinations from Kashipur with first class and at the same time studied grammar, literature, and scriptures through traditional Sanskrit medium in the company of eminent scholars like Raghuveer Dutt Shastri and Pandit Ramshankar Dwivedi. Govind Chandra Pandey had also done Hindi poetry translations of many poems of Rigveda.
- Politician Sis Ram Ola:- On this day in the year 1927, politician Sis Ram Ola was born in a Jat farmer’s family in Aradavata village of Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. His father’s name was Chaudhary Mangalaram Ola and his mother’s name was Soni Devi. He got an education till matriculation. In the year 1948, he was elected Sarpanch of his village Aradavata and remained there till 1951. Sis Ram Ola was also a Member of Parliament of the Indian National Congress from the Khetri Assembly Constituency in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections in the years 1957 and 1962. Ola was decorated with the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her special contribution to the field of military welfare works and girl child education.

- Indian accountant and terrorist Yakub Memon: – On this day in the year 1962, Indian accountant and terrorist Yakub Memon was born. Let us tell you that he was one of the main culprits of serial bomb blasts in Mumbai on March 12, 1993. A chartered accountant by profession and a citizen of India, he was the last person to be hanged in India till July 2015 on charges of terrorism.
- Singer Sonu Nigam:- On this day in the year 1973, singer Sonu Nigam was born in Faridabad, Haryana. Sonu Nigam has been singing since the age of four. Let us tell you that, he first sang Mohammed Rafi’s song ‘Kya Hua Tera Wada’ on stage with his father. He took lessons from classical singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
