हर वर्ष 19 अगस्त को विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस मनाया जाता है. यह सिर्फ दिवस (तारीख) ही नहीं बल्कि तस्वीरों के माध्यम से दुनिया की सुंदरता, भावनाओं और कहानियों को कैद करते हैं.
विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस की शुरुआत वर्ष 1839 में फ्रांसीसी सरकार द्वारा डैगेरोटाइप (Daguerreotype) प्रक्रिया के आविष्कार की याद में किया जाता है. यह उस समय की पहली सफल फोटोग्राफी प्रक्रियाओं में से एक थी. बताते चलें कि, पहला आधिकारिक विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस 19 अगस्त 2010 को मनाया गया, जब लगभग 270 फोटोग्राफरों ने अपनी तस्वीरें एक वैश्विक ऑनलाइन गैलरी में साझा की थीं.
विश्व फोटोग्राफी दिवस का मुख्य उद्देश्य उन फोटोग्राफरों को श्रद्धांजलि देना जो अपनी तस्वीरों से दुनिया को एक नया दृष्टिकोण देते हैं. हर वर्ष फोटोग्राफी दिवस पर एक थीम जारी की जाती है. वर्ष 2025 का थीम है “मेरी पसंदीदा तस्वीर”.

World Photography Day is celebrated in memory of the invention of the Daguerreotype process by the French government in 1839. It was one of the first successful photography processes of that time. Let us tell you that the first official World Photography Day was celebrated on 19 August 2010, when about 270 photographers shared their photos in a global online gallery.
The main objective of World Photography Day is to pay tribute to those photographers who give a new perspective to the world with their photos. Every year, a theme is released on Photography Day. The theme for the year 2025 is “My favourite photo”.
