हर वर्ष 26 अप्रैल को विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा दिवस मनाया जाता है. इस दिन का मुख्य उद्देश्य बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकारों (Intellectual Property Rights) के महत्व को उजागर करना और नवाचार, रचनात्मकता और आर्थिक विकास में उनकी भूमिका को समझाना है.
विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा दिवस की शुरुआत विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा संगठन (WIPO – World Intellectual Property Organization) द्वारा की गई थी. WIPO एक संयुक्त राष्ट्र की एजेंसी है, जिसकी स्थापना वर्ष 1967 में हुई थी. WIPO ने 26 अप्रैल को विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया, क्योंकि इसी दिन वर्ष 1970 में WIPO संधि (WIPO Convention) लागू हुई थी. तभी से हर वर्ष यह दिवस अलग-अलग थीम के साथ मनाया जाता है.
हर वर्ष विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा दिवस का एक नया थीम होता है. वर्ष 2024 का थीम था “IP और SDGs: नवाचार के जरिए सतत भविष्य की रचना” (IP and the SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity). इस थीम का उद्देश्य यह दर्शाना है कि कैसे बौद्धिक संपदा संयुक्त राष्ट्र के सतत विकास लक्ष्यों (SDGs) को प्राप्त करने में मदद कर सकती है.
बौद्धिक संपदा उन अधिकारों को कहते हैं जो किसी व्यक्ति या संस्था को उसकी मानसिक रचना (जैसे आविष्कार, साहित्य, कला, डिज़ाइन, ट्रेडमार्क आदि) पर दिए जाते हैं। इसे मुख्यतः चार श्रेणियों में बाँटा जा सकता है: – नए आविष्कारों, साहित्यिक, कलात्मक और संगीतमय रचनाएं , ब्रांड नाम, लोगो और व्यावसायिक पहचान के साथ -साथ गोपनीय व्यावसायिक जानकारी का संरक्षण करना.
भारत में बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकारों को सुरक्षित करने के लिए निम्नलिखित कानून लागू हैं: – पेटेंट अधिनियम, 1970, कॉपीराइट एक्ट, 1957, ट्रेडमार्क एक्ट, 1999, डिजाइन एक्ट, 2000. भारत सरकार ने राष्ट्रीय बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकार नीति (2016) भी लागू की है, जिसका उद्देश्य IPR को मजबूत करना और नवाचार को बढ़ावा देना है.
विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा दिवस हमें याद दिलाता है कि रचनात्मकता और नवाचार मानव विकास के मूल आधार हैं. यह अधिकार सुनिश्चित करता हैं कि जिन लोगों ने नए विचार और नवाचार उत्पन्न किए हैं, उन्हें उनकी मेहनत का फल मिल सके साथ ही विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा दिवस पर हम सभी का कर्तव्य है कि हम IPR के प्रति जागरूकता फैलाएँ और नकली उत्पादों व चोरी के विरुद्ध सजग रहें.

World Intellectual Property Day…
World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated every year on 26 April. The main objective of this day is to highlight the importance of intellectual property rights and explain their role in innovation, creativity and economic development.
World Intellectual Property Day was started by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). WIPO is a United Nations agency that was established in 1967. WIPO declared 26 April as World Intellectual Property Day, because on this day in the year 1970, the WIPO Convention came into force. Since then, every year this day is celebrated with different themes.
Every year, World Intellectual Property Day has a new theme. The theme for the year 2024 was “IP and the SDGS: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity”. The theme highlights how intellectual property can help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS).
Intellectual property is the rights granted to an individual or an organization over their mental creations (such as inventions, literature, art, designs, trademarks, etc.). It can be broadly divided into four categories: – Protection of new inventions, literary, artistic and musical works, brand names, logos and business identities as well as confidential business information.
The following laws are in force in India to protect intellectual property rights: – Patents Act, 1970, Copyright Act, 1957, Trademark Act, 1999, Designs Act, 2000. The Government of India has also implemented the National Intellectual Property Rights Policy (2016), which aims to strengthen IPR and promote innovation.
World Intellectual Property Day reminds us that creativity and innovation are the fundamentals of human development. This right ensures that people who have generated new ideas and innovations get the fruits of their hard work, and on World Intellectual Property Day, it is the duty of all of us to spread awareness about IPR and be vigilant against counterfeit products and theft.
