बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह की 246 वीं जन्मोत्सव के अवसर पर जमुई स्थित केकेएम कालेज के परिसर में’स्वतंत्रता सेनानी बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह के व्यक्तित्व और कृतित्व’ पर एक परिचर्चा आयोजित की गई. इस परिचर्चा की अध्यक्षता केकेएम कॉलेज के सहायक प्राचार्य डॉ. (प्रो.) गौरी शंकर पासवान ने की. अपने अध्यक्षीय सम्बोधन में प्रो. पासवान ने कहा कि वीर कुंवर सिंह बिहार के गौरव व जगदीशपुर शाहाबाद आरा के लाल साथ ही भारत की महान विभूति और स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के महानायक थे. उन्होंने कहा कि, जिन महान वीरों ने अपनी असाधारण वीरता, त्याग और बलिदान से भारत भूमि को धन्य किया है, उनमें बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह का नाम बड़े अदब से लिया जाता है.
प्रो. पासवान ने कहा कि, बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह साहस और वीरता के पर्याय थे. उन्होंने 80 वर्ष की उम्र में सन 18 57 के गदर में अंग्रेजों को धूल चटा दी थी। स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में उनकी महत्वपूर्ण योगदानों को नजरअंदाज किंचित नहीं किया जा सकता. 23 अप्रैल 1858 को ही वीर कुंवर सिंह ने शाहाबाद क्षेत्र को अंग्रेजों के चंगुल से स्वतंत्र करा कर जगदीशपुर में विजय पताका लहराया था. उन्होंने कहा कि, बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह साहस के सुमेरु और संकल्प के गिरिराज और मातृभूमि के सच्चे वीर और रक्षक थे. उनके चारित्रिक श्रेष्ठता और शौर्य के अनेक उदाहरण उनके गौरवगाथा के रूप में मिलते हैं. उनका महान पौरुष और विलक्षण नेतृत्व सचमुच अलौकिक थे. वे ऐसे व्यक्ति थे जिन्होंने कठिन परिस्थितियों में अपनी हाथ को तलवार से काटकर गंगा में प्रवाहित करना उचित समझा, लेकिन अंग्रेजों के आगे कभी झुकना पसंद नहीं किया. हम ऐसे शाहाबाद के वयोवृद्ध शेर स्व. वीर कुंवर सिंह को नमन करते हैं.
प्रो. पासवान ने श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते हुए कहा कि- लहराएगा जब तक प्रशांत में पानी, युग-युग गाएगा अमर तेरी कहानी, जग मिटा ना सकता अमर तेरी निशानी. हे प्रहरी बलिदानी, हे देशभक्त अभिमानी. वहीँ, एसपीएस महिला महाविद्यालय के इतिहास के असिस्टेंट प्रो. संजीव कुमार सिंह ने कहा कि बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह एक महान ऐतिहासिक पुरुष थे. उन्होंने 49 वर्ष की अवस्था में जगदीशपुर (भोजपुरी) की जमीदारी अपने हाथ में ली थी. 23 अप्रैल 1777 को वीर कुंवर सिंह का जन्म शाहाबाद आरा स्थित जगदीशपुर ग्राम में हुआ था. उन्होंने ब्रिटिश हुकूमत के खिलाफ कई लड़ाइयां लड़ी और जीती भी है. आज बिहार सहित पूरे भारत में बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह की 246 वीं जयंती मनाई जा रही है. उन्होंने कहा कि, कुंवर सिंह हमारे प्रेरणास्रोत हैं. हम उन्हें श्रद्धा सुमन अर्पित करते हैं.
आदर्श उत्क्रमित मध्य विद्यालय शाहपुर के प्रभारी प्रधानाध्यापक दिनेश मंडल ने कहा कि बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह वास्तव में क्रांतिवीर थे. वे बिहार के शान और जान थे. उन्होंने कहा कि, बाबू वीर बांकुड़ा वर्ष 1857 के प्रथम स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के बिहार प्रांत के अगुवा रहे हैं. 80 वर्ष की उम्र में अंग्रेजों के विरूद्ध में उन्होंने जो अदम्य साहस और शौर्य, तप और त्याग का प्रदर्शन किया था, वह आज भी मिसाल है. प्रभारी प्रधानाध्यापक मंडल ने कहा कि, कुंवर सिंह की सबसे बड़ी विशेषता यह थी कि वे उदार चरित्र के व्यक्ति थे.उन्होंने कहा कि, कुंवर सिंह के जीवन से प्रेरणा यह मिलती है कि यदि मानव के मन में कार्य करने की दृढ़ इच्छाशक्ति और संकल्प हो, जज्बा और जुनून हो तो दुनिया की कोई भी शक्ति और व्यवधान उसे आगे बढ़ने से रोक नहीं सकती है.
इस मौके पर प्रो. प्रभाष चंद्र सिंह, प्रो. आनंद कुमार सिंह, प्रो. डी.के गोयल, प्रो. सरदार राम, प्रो. अजीत कुमार भारती, अधिवक्ता प्रभात कुमार भगत व रामचंद्र रवि ने कहा कि 23 अप्रैल 1858 भारतीय इतिहास का एक ऐसा स्वर्णिम विजयोत्सव दिवस है, जिसका उदाहरण दुनिया के किसी भी इतिहास में नहीं मिलता है. उन्होंने बाबू वीर कुंवर सिंह को भारत की महान आत्मा और त्याग की प्रतिमूर्ति कहा.

Dinesh Mandal, in charge of Adarsh Utramit Middle School, Shahpur, said that Babu Veer Kunwar Singh was actually a revolutionary. He was the pride and life of Bihar. He said that Babu Veer Bankura was the leader of the first freedom movement in the year 1857 in Bihar province. At the age of 80, the indomitable courage and bravery, tenacity, and sacrifice he demonstrated against the British is an example even today. He said that inspiration comes from the life of Kunwar Singh if there is a strong will and determination to work in the mind of a human being.
