सर्वत्र शुक्ल पुष्पाणि प्रशस्तानि सदार्चने।
दानकाले च सर्वत्र मंत्र मेत मुदीरयेत्॥
भारतीय काल गणना के अनुसार वर्ष (साल) का दूसरा महीना बैशाख होता है यह महीना पवित्र और पावन होता है. इस महीने का जिक्र हमारे पौराणिक ग्रन्थों में हुआ है. ऐसा माना जाता है कि, बैशाख महीने के शुक्ल पक्ष की तृतीय का विस्तृत वर्णन भविष्य पुराण में किया गया है. भविष्य पुराण के अनुसार बैशाख शुक्ल पक्ष तृतीय के दिन सतयुग और त्रेतायुग युग का प्रारम्भ हुआ था. बताते चलें कि, बैशाख शुक्ल पक्ष तृतीय के ही दिन को भगवान विष्णु ने नर-नारायण, हयग्रीव और परशुरामजी का अवतरण हुआ था. इसी दिन श्रीबद्रीनाथजी की प्रतिमा स्थापित की जाती है और उनका पूजन भी किया जाता है साथ ही श्रीलक्ष्मी-नारायण के दर्शन किये जाते हैं. बैशाख शुक्ल पक्ष तृतीय के ही दिन महाभारत युद्ध समाप्त हुआ था और द्वापर युग का अंत भी इसी दिन हुआ था. वृंदावन स्थित श्रीबांकें बिहारी जी के मन्दिर में भी आज ही के दिन श्यामसुंदर, गोविन्द के चरणों का दर्शन होता हैं अन्यथा, पुरे साल वे वस्त्रों से ढके रहते हैं. पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार, इस दिन प्रारम्भ किये गये कार्य और दिए गये दान का कभी क्षय नहीं होता है.
अक्षय तृतीया के दिन ब्रहम मुहूर्त में नदी स्नान या स्नान कर शांत चित होकर भगवान गोविन्द की विधि विधान से पूजा करता है और ब्राहमणों को विधि पूर्वक भोजन व दान करना चाहिए. आज के दिन नवीन (नये) वस्त्र व आभूषण धारण करना चाहिए. कहा जाता है कि, आज के दिन जो कुछ भी दान किया जाता है वो समस्त वस्तुएं स्वर्ग में या अगले जन्म में प्राप्त होगी. अक्षय तृतीय के दिन भगवान लक्ष्मी-नारायण की विशेष पूजा सफेद कमल या सफेद या पीले गुलाब से करनी चाहिए. यह पूजा विशेष फलदायी मानी जाती है. आज के दिन अपने अच्छे आचरण और सद्गुणों से दुसरे बड़े-बुजुर्गों का आशीर्वाद लेना चाहिए.
वैसे तो अक्षय तृतीया पर अनेक व्रत कथाएँ प्रचलित हैं लेकिन, बताते चलें कि, स्कंद और भविष्य पुराण में भी कथा का वर्णन है. कथा के अनुसार, अक्षय तृतीया के दिन भगवान विष्णु ने रेणुका के गर्भ से परशुराम रूप में जन्म लिया. परशुराम की माता और विश्वामित्र की माता के पूजन के बाद प्रसाद देते समय ऋषि ने प्रसाद बदल कर दे दिया था. जिसके प्रभाव से परशुराम ब्राह्मण होते हुए भी क्षत्रिय स्वभाव के थे और क्षत्रिय पुत्र होने के बाद भी विश्वामित्र ब्रह्मर्षि कहलाए. आज के दिन परशुरामजी की पूजा करके उन्हें अर्घ्य दिया जाता है. दक्षिन भारत में आज के दिन परशुराम जयंती भी मनाई जाती है.
कुंवारी कन्याये व सौभाग्यवती स्त्रियाँ आज के दिन गौरी की पूजा करती हैं और प्रसाद में भीगे हुए चने, मिठाई और फल देती हैं.
सनातन परम्परा में अक्षय तृतीय का विशेष महत्व होता है. आज का दिन सर्वासिद्ध मुहूर्त केरूप से भी जाना जाता है. अक्षय तृतीया के ही दिन बिना पंचांग देखे भी कोई भी शुभ मांगलिक कार्य, खरीदारी, नई संस्था की स्थापना करना श्रेष्ठ माना जाता है. धार्मिक ग्रन्थों के अनुसार, आज के दिन पितरों को किया गया तर्पण या पिंडदान का फल अक्षय माना जाता है. इस दिन पवित्र नदी स्नान करने तथा भगवत पूजा करने से समस्त पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं. कहा जाता हैं कि, इस दिन को किया गया जप, तप, हवन, दान और स्वाध्याय का फल अक्षय हो जाता है. बताते चलें कि, अक्षय तृतीय के दिन की तिथि यदि सोमवार हो साथ ही रोहणी नक्षत्र हो तो उस वक्त के जप, तप, हवन, दान और स्वाध्याय का फल अक्षय हो जाता है. इस दिन मनुष्यों को चाहिए कि, अपने दुर्गुणों को भगवान नारायण के चरणों में अर्पित कर, सद्गुणों का आचरण करना चाहिए.

It is believed that the third day of Shukla Paksha of Baisakh month has been described in detail in Bhavishya Purana. According to Bhavishya Purana, Satyuga and Tretayuga eras started on the third day of Baisakh Shukla Paksha. Let us tell you that, on the day of Baisakh Shukla Paksha III, Lord Vishnu incarnated Nar-Narayan, Hayagriva, and Parshuramji. On this day, the idol of Shri Badrinathji is installed and worshiped, along with Shri Lakshmi-Narayan is seen. The Mahabharata War ended on the day of Baisakh Shukla Paksha III and the end of Dwapar Yuga also took place on this day. The feet of Shyamsundar and Govind can be seen on this day in the temple of Shri Banke Bihari ji located in Vrindavan, otherwise, they remain covered with clothes throughout the year. According to mythological beliefs, the work started on this day and the donation given never decays.
On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, in the Brahma Muhurta, taking a bath or a bath in the river worships Lord Govind with a calm mind and the Brahmins should eat and donate according to the method. New (new) clothes and jewelry should be worn on this day. It is said that whatever is donated on this day, all those things will be received in heaven or in the next life. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, special worship of Lord Lakshmi-Narayan should be done with white lotus or white or yellow rose. This worship is considered very fruitful. On this day, blessings of other elders should be taken by your good conduct and virtues.
Although many fasting stories are prevalent in Akshaya Tritiya, let us tell that the story is also described in Skanda and Bhavishya Purana. According to legend, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, Lord Vishnu was born in the form of Parshuram from the womb of Renuka. After worshiping Parshuram’s mother and Vishwamitra’s mother, while giving prasad, the sage changed the prasad. Due to its effect, Parshuram was of Kshatriya nature even though he was a Brahmin, and Vishwamitra was called Brahmarshi even after being a Kshatriya son. On this day Parshuram is worshiped and Arghya is offered to him. Parshuram Jayanti is also celebrated on this day in South India.
Unmarried girls and fortunate women worship Gauri on this day and offer soaked gram, sweets, and fruits as prasad.
Akshaya Tritiya has special importance in the Sanatan tradition. Today’s day is also known as Sarvasiddha Muhurta. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, it is considered best to do any auspicious work, shopping, or establishment of a new institution even without seeing the almanac. According to religious texts, the fruits of Tarpan or Pinddaan done to the ancestors on this day are considered to be indestructible. On this day, by taking a bath in the holy river and worshiping the Lord, all sins are destroyed. It is said that the results of chanting, penance, havan, charity, and self-study done on this day become inexhaustible. Let us tell that if the date of Akshaya Tritiya day is Monday and there is Rohani Nakshatra, then the result of chanting, penance, havan, donation, and self-study at that time becomes renewable. On this day humans should practice virtues by offering their bad qualities at the feet of Lord Narayan.
