रुद्राक्ष एक फल है जिसकी गुठली का प्रयोग आध्यात्मिक क्षेत्र में किया जाता है. इसका वैज्ञानिक नाम एलेकार्पोस ग्यानीट्रस (Alecorpos Ganyrantus) है और ये एलेकोरपेसे परिवार से आता है. रुद्राक्ष की उत्पत्ति के सम्बन्ध में कहा जाता है कि, जब भगवान भोलेनाथ का हृदय द्रवित हुआ तो संसार के कल्याण के लिए उनके आँखों से आंसू निकल कर पृथ्वी (धरती) पर गिरे, और यही अश्रुकण से रुद्राक्ष की उत्पत्ती हुई. भारत में रुद्राक्ष मुख्यत: बंगाल, आसाम, मैसूर, अन्नामले, देहरादून व हरिद्वार में पाया जाता है.
रुद्राक्ष का वृक्ष देखने में आमतौर पर आम के पेड़ के जैसे ही होते हैं. इसके पत्ते भी आम के पत्तों जैसे ही होते हैं इसका फूल सफेद रंग का होता है और इसके फल हरी आभा युक्त नील रंग के गोल करीब एक इंच व्यास के होते हैं. रुद्राक्ष के फलों को अगर खाया जाय तो खाने में खट्टा लगता है. बताते चलें कि इसके फलों का नीलकंठ पक्षी बड़े चाव से खाते हैं. बताते चलें कि, रुद्राक्ष के पेड़ में फल लगने के 08-09 महीने के बाद सुख कर कठोर होकर स्वत: गिर जाता है. इन्ही दानों को एकत्रित कर उसका छिलका निकाल लिया जाता है और जो बीज बचता है यही रुद्राक्ष है. ज्ञात है कि, रुद्राक्ष के रंग और मुख तथा उसमें बने छिद्र प्राकृतिक होते हैं.
बताते चलें कि, रुद्राक्ष मुख्य रूप से चार प्रकार के होते हैं. रुद्राक्ष के छोटे और काले रंग दानों के वृक्ष इंडोनेशिया व नेपाल में पाए जाते हैं.
- श्वेत वर्ण रुद्राक्ष,
- लाल वर्ण रुद्राक्ष,
- पीत वर्ण रुद्राक्ष,
- श्याम वर्ण रुद्राक्ष.
ज्ञात है कि, 01-03 मुखी के रुद्राक्ष मुख्यत: इंडोनेशिया में पाया जाता है जबकि नेपाल में इसकी संख्यां बहुत ही कम है इसीलिए 01-03 मुखी के दानों की कीमत ज्यादा होती है. कहा जाता है कि, रुद्राक्ष का महत्व उसकी नित्य पूजा एवं धारण करने से एश्वर्य की कमी नहीं होती है. रुद्राक्ष का प्रयोग अनेक प्रकार की बीमारीयों के उपचार में भी प्रयोग किया जाता है. रुद्राक्ष करीब 15 प्रकार के पाए जाते हैं जिसमें 01-14 मुखी के अलावा गौरीशंकर रुद्राक्ष होता है. वैज्ञानिक आधार पर बिना मंत्र जाप किये भी रुद्राक्ष को धारण कर सकते हैं लेकिन शास्त्रीय विधि से अभिमंत्रित करके रुद्राक्ष को धारण करना सर्वोत्तम माना जाता है. जब किसी रुद्राक्ष को अभिमंत्रित किया जाता है तब उस रुद्राक्ष में एक अदभुत शक्ति उत्पन्न हो जाती है.
शिव पुराण में हर तरह के रुद्राक्ष को अभिमंत्रित करने के लिए अलग-अलग मंत्र बताएं गये हैं. बताते चलें कि, रुद्राक्ष के दाने जितना छोटा होगा उतना ही बढ़िया माना जाता है. मानव जीवन में रुद्राक्ष का प्रयोग कई रूपों में किया जाता है.
- लिंग स्वरूप मानकर इसकी पूजा की जाती है.
- इसका प्रयोग गंदे जल (पानी) को साफ़ करने के लिए भी किया जाता है.
- भस्म बनाकर भी इसका उपयोग किया जाता है.
- इसे अंगूठी बनाकर भी धारण किया जाता है.
- माला बनाकर गले में धारण किया जाता है या मंत्र जाप में भी प्रयोग किया जाता है.
- छोटे दानों को गला, कलाई या कमर में बांध कर भी इसका उपयोग किया जाता है.
एकमुखी रुद्राक्ष के बारे में कहा जाता है कि, यह साक्षात शिव का ही रूप है या यूँ कहें कि, यह सर्वसिद्धि होता है. इसे धारण करने वाले व्यक्ति को ब्रह्महत्या व पाप को दूर करने वाला होता है. यह सात्विक शक्ति को बढाता है और मोक्ष प्रदान करने में सहायक होता है. बताते चलें कि, एक मुखी रुद्राक्ष जिस घर में होता है वहां माता लक्ष्मी का स्थाई निवास हो जाता है उस घर में धन्य-धान, वैभव, प्रतिष्ठा और दैवीय कृपा से परिपूर्ण हो जाता है.
नोट:- रुद्राक्ष का माला धारण करने वाले व्यक्ति को मांस-मदीरा से दूर रहना चाहिए. रात में सोते समय इसे उतार देना चाहिए व प्रात: नित्य क्रिया करने बाद पुन: इसे धारण करना चाहिए.

Rudraksha is a fruit whose kernel is used in the spiritual field. Its scientific name is Alecorpos Ganyrantus and it comes from the Alecorpaceae family. Regarding the origin of Rudraksh, it is said that when Lord Bholenath’s heart was moved, tears came out of his eyes for the welfare of the world and fell on the earth, and Rudraksh originated from these tears. In India Rudraksha is mainly found in Bengal, Assam, Mysore, Annamalai, Dehradun, and Haridwar.
The Rudraksha tree is generally similar to the mango tree in appearance. Its leaves are also similar to mango leaves, its flowers are white in color and its fruits are blue in color with green aura, about one inch in diameter. If the fruits of Rudraksha are eaten then it tastes sour. Let us tell you that Neelkanth birds eat its fruits with great interest. Let us tell you that, after 08-09 months of bearing fruit in the Rudraksha tree, it dries up and hardens and falls automatically. These seeds are collected and their peel is removed and the seed that remains is the Rudraksha. It is known that the color and face of Rudraksha and the holes made in it are natural.
Let us tell that there are mainly four types of Rudraksha. The trees of small and black-colored Rudraksha seeds are found in Indonesia and Nepal.
- White character Rudraksh,
- Red character Rudraksh,
- Yellow color Rudraksh,
- Shyam Varna Rudraksh.
It is known that Rudraksha of 01-03 Mukhi is mainly found in Indonesia, while its quantity is very less in Nepal, that’s why the price of 01-03 Mukhi beads is high. It is said that the importance of Rudraksha does not decrease in wealth by worshiping and wearing it regularly. Rudraksha is also used in the treatment of many types of diseases. About 15 types of Rudraksh are found in which apart from 01-14 Mukhi, there is Gaurishankar Rudraksh. On a scientific basis, Rudraksh can be worn even without chanting mantras, but it is considered best to wear Rudraksh after being invited by the classical method. When a Rudraksh is invoked, then a wonderful power is generated in that Rudraksh.
In Shiv Puran, different mantras have been given to invoke each type of Rudraksha. Let us tell you that the smaller the bead of Rudraksha, the better it is considered. Rudraksha is used in many forms in human life.
- It is worshiped considering it as a gender.
- It is also used to purify dirty water (water).
- It is also used for making ashes.
- It is also worn by making a ring.
- Garland is made and worn around the neck or it is also used in chanting mantras.
- It is also used by tying small grains around the neck, wrist, or waist.
It is said about Ekmukhi Rudraksha that, it is the form of Shiva itself or to say that it is all-powerful. The person who wears it is supposed to remove Brahmahatya and sin. It increases satvik power and helps in providing salvation. Let us tell that, in the house where one Mukhi Rudraksha is kept, Mother Lakshmi becomes a permanent abode there, and that house becomes full of blessed rice, glory, prestige, and divine grace.
Note: – The person wearing Rudraksh’s rosary should stay away from meat and alcohol. It should be removed while sleeping at night and it should be worn again in the morning after performing daily rituals.
