1. राणा उदयसिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1522 में मेवाड़ के शासक और महाराणा प्रताप के पिता राणा उदयसिंह का जन्म हुआ था. वर्ष 1567 में जब चित्तौड़गढ़ को लेकर अकबर ने इस किले का दूसरी बार घेराव किया तो यहां राणा उदय सिंह की सूझबूझ काम आयी. अकबर की पहली चढ़ाई को राणा ने असफल कर दिया था.
2. मराठा वीर सदाशिवराव भाऊ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1730 में मराठा वीर सदाशिवराव भाऊ का जन्म हुआ था. पेशवा बालाजी बाजीराव के चचेरे भाई थे सदाशिवराव भाऊ.
3. राजनीतिज्ञ फ़िरोजशाह मेहता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1730 में बंबई नगरपालिका के संविधान (चार्टर) के निर्माता फ़िरोजशाह मेहता का जन्म मुम्बई के एक प्रसिद्ध व्यवसायी परिवार में हुआ था. पारसी समाज में एम. ए. पास करने वाले फिरोज़शाह मेहता पहले युवक थे. फ़िरोज़शाह ने चार वर्ष तक इंग्लैड में क़ानून का अध्ययन किया तथा 1868 में वहीं से वकालत (बैरिस्टर) की परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण कर भारत लौटे. मुम्बई के कमिश्नर आर्थर क्रॉफ़र्ड का एक क़ानूनी मामले में बचाव करते हुए उन्होंने स्थानीय शासन के सुधार की आवश्यकता महसूस की और वर्ष 1872 के ‘नगरपालिका अधिनियम’ की रूपरेखा तैयार की, जिसके कारण वह ‘बंबई स्थानीय शासन के जनक’ कहलाए. मेहता शिक्षा पर बहुत ज़ोर देते थे. नौकरशाही को जनता की माँ-बाप समझने की प्रवृत्ति का उन्होंने सदा ही विरोध किया था.
4. राजनीतिज्ञ यशवंत सिंह परमार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1906 में राजनीतिज्ञ यशवंत सिंह परमार का जन्म चनालग, जिला सिरमौर, हिमाचल प्रदेश में हुआ था. उन्होंने वर्ष 1928 में बी0ए0 आनर्स किया; लखनऊ से एम०ए० और एल०एल०बी० तथा वर्ष 1944 में समाजशास्त्र में पी एच डी की थी. उन्होंने सिरमौर रियासत में 11 वर्षों तक सब जज और मजिस्ट्रेट (1930- 37) के बाद जिला और सत्र न्यायाधीश (1937 -41) के रूप में अपनी सेवाएं दी थी. परमार नौकरी की परवाह ना करते हुए सुकेत सत्याग्रह प्रजामण्डल से जुड़े और अपने प्रयासों से सत्याग्रह को सफल बनाया. वर्ष 1963 में परमार हिमाचल के मुख्यमंत्री बने थे.
5. साहित्यकार इन्दु प्रकाश पाण्डेय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1927 में साहित्यकार इन्दु प्रकाश पाण्डेय का जन्म हुआ था. उत्तर प्रदेश के ज़िला रायबरेली में ग्राम गेगासों शिवपुरी के पं. शम्‍भू रतन पाण्‍डेय तथा शुभद्रा पाण्‍डेय के घर हुआ था. उनकी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा प्राप्‍त करने के बाद बालक इन्‍दु प्रकाश परिवार के साथ कासगंज, अजमेर, माउंट आबू और रायबरेली रहे और इन्‍हीं स्‍थानों पर रह कर माध्‍यमिक शिक्षा प्राप्‍त की. वर्ष 1943 में हाईस्‍कूल की परीक्षा उत्‍तीर्ण की. वर्ष 1943 में महात्मा गाँधी द्वारा शुरू किए गए भारत छोड़ो आन्दोलन में सक्रिय भाग लिया और गिरफ्तार होकर जेल में भी रहे. शैक्षणिक योग्यता बढ़ाने के क्रम में बाद में इन्‍दु ने वर्ष 1955 में पुणे के दक्षिण कॉलेज द्वारा आयोजित ‘समर और ऑटम स्‍कूल ऑफ़ लिंग्विस्टिक्‍स’ में भाग लेकर भाषाशास्‍त्र की अनेक नवीन विधाओं का अध्‍ययन किया. अपने अध्‍यापक जीवन के दौरान डॉ. पाण्‍डेय विभिन्‍न शैक्षणिक और अकादमिक समितियों में सक्रिय रहे. इन्‍दु ने सैंकड़ों लेखों, पचासों कविताओं, कहानियों, व्‍यक्तिचित्रों आदि के माध्‍यम से अपनी राष्‍ट्रभाषा हिन्‍दी के भण्‍डार में अपना भी योगदान दिया.
6. अभिनेता, गायक, निर्देशक किशोर कुमार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1929 में गायक किशोर कुमार का जन्म मध्य प्रदेश के खण्डवा शहर में हुआ था.उनके पिता श्रीकुंजीलाल खण्डवा शहर के जाने-माने वकील थे. किशोर कुमार का वास्तविक नाम आभास कुमार गांगुली था. उनकी शिक्षा इन्दौर के क्रिश्चियन कॉलेज से हुई थी. किशोर ने अपने फिल्मी कैरीयर की शुरुआत फ़िल्म शिकारी से की थी. इस फ़िल्म में उनके बड़े भाई अशोक कुमार ने प्रमुख भूमिका निभाई थी. किशोर को पहली बार गाने का मौका फ़िल्म जिद्दी में मिला था. संघर्ष के दौर में किशोर ने कई फिल्मों में काम किया लेकिन, सफलता नहीं मिली. बताते चलें कि, किशोर कुमार की शुरुआत की कई फ़िल्मों में मोहम्मद रफ़ी ने किशोर कुमार के लिए अपनी आवाज दी थी. उस दौर में किशोर की आवाज को किसी संगीतकार ने ध्यान नहीं दिया लेकिन, वर्ष 1957 में बनी फ़िल्म “फंटूस” में दुखी मन मेरे गीत अपनी ऐसी धाक जमाई कि जाने माने संगीतकारों को किशोर कुमार की प्रतिभा का लोहा मानना पड़ा. अपने कैरियर के दौरान करीब 574 से अधिक गाने गाए हैं.
7. क्रिकेटर नरेन तमहाने:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में नरेन तमहाने का जन्म हुआ था.
8. इतिहासकार एवं पुरातात्त्विद काशी प्रसाद जायसवाल:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1937 में इतिहासकार काशी प्रसाद जायसवाल का निधन हुआ था. उत्तर प्रदेश के मिर्जापुर में एक धनी व्यापारी परिवार में हुआ था. उन्होंने मिर्जापुर के ‘लंदन मिशन स्कूल’ से प्रवेश की परीक्षा प्रथम श्रेणी में उत्तीर्ण की थी. इसके उपरान्त उच्च शिक्षा के लिये वे ‘ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी’ चले गये. जहाँ से इतिहास में एम. ए. किया. भारत लौटने पर काशी प्रसाद जायसवाल ने ‘कोलकाता विश्वविद्यालय’ में प्रवक्ता बनने की कोशिश की, किन्तु राजनैतिक आन्दोलन में भाग लेने के कारण उन्हें नियुक्ति नहीं मिली. वर्ष 1911 में कोलकाता में वकालत आरम्भ की परन्तु कुछ वर्ष बाद वर्ष 1914 में काशी प्रसाद जायसवाल ‘पटना उच्च न्यायालय’ में आ गये और फिर यहीं पर वकालत करने लगे. काशी प्रसाद को ‘काशी नागरी प्रचारिणी सभा’ के उपमंत्री भी बनाये गए थे. डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद के सहयोग से काशी प्रसाद जायसवाल ने ‘इतिहास परिषद’ की स्थापना की थी. बताते चलें कि, ‘पटना संग्रहालय’ की स्थापना में भी काशी प्रसाद जायसवाल का महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान था.
9. अभिनेता दिलीप प्रभावालकर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1944 में अभिनेता दिलीप प्रभावालकर का जन्म हुआ था.
10. राजनीतिज्ञ एन. रंगस्वामी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1950 में राजनीतिज्ञ एन. रंगस्वामी का जन्म पुदुच्चेरी में हुआ था. एन. रंगास्वामी ही ऐसे मुख्यमंत्री हैं जो बिना किसी सुरक्षा घेरे के खुलेआम अपने निर्वाचन क्षेत्र का दौरा करते थे. रंगास्वामी ने राज्य के मूलभूत ढांचे और नागरिकों के जीवन को महत्वपूर्ण ढंग से परिवर्तित किया वहीं, पुदुचेरी को महिला सशक्तिकरण, साक्षरता, सड़क निर्माण और अन्य जन सुविधाओं के मामले में भी अव्वल स्थान दिया गया था. इसके अलावा एन. रंगास्वामी ने सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली की शुरुआत कर मधुमेह के मरीजों और वरिष्ठ नागरिकों के लिए गेहूं उपलब्ध कराने की व्यवस्था भी की थी.
11. परमाणु अनुसंधान रिएक्टर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 में देश का पहला परमाणु अनुसंधान रिएक्टर ‘अप्सरा’ शुरू कर भारत एक बार में एक मेगावाट थर्मल बिजली तैयार करने लगा था. करीब 53 वर्ष तक काम करने के बाद वर्ष 2009 में इसे बंद कर दिया गया.
12. अभिनेता अरबाज खान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1967 में अभिनेता अरबाज खान का जन्म पुणे में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम सलीम खान है और उनकी माँ का नाम सलमा खान है. वहीं, उनकी सतौली माँ हेलेन अपने जमाने की बॉलीवुड डांसिंग डिवा रह चुकीं हैं.अरबाज की प्रारम्भिक पढ़ाई सिंधिया स्कूल ग्वालियर से हुई थी. अरबाज ने अपने फ़िल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म दरार से की थी. अरबाज को इस फिल्म के लिए फिल्मफेयर बेस्ट विलेन अवार्ड से भी नवाजा गया था. अरबाज का कैरियर भले ही बतौर अभिनेता कुछ खास ना रहा हो लेकिन वह एक सफल निर्माता हैं. वर्ष 2010 में उन्होंने अपने प्रोडक्शन के तहत सलमान खान स्टारर फिल्म दबंग का निर्माण किया, जो कि ब्लॉकबस्टर हिट साबित हुई थी.
13. नागार्जुनसागर बांध:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1967 में विश्व के सबसे लंबे चिनाई बांध नागार्जुनसागर का निर्माण पूरा हुआ था. बताते चलें कि, यह बांध कृष्णा नदी पर बनाया गया है. इसकी ऊंचाई करीब 663 मीटर है. ज्ञात है कि, इस बांध का निर्माण राजा वासिरेड्डी रामगोपाल कृष्ण महेश्वर प्रसाद ने बनवाया है. नागार्जुन सागर बांध भारत के आंध्र प्रदेश में है। यह गुंटूर जिले, आंध्र प्रदेश और नलगोंडा जिले, तेलंगाना के बीच स्थित है। इसका निर्माण वर्ष 1955-67 के बीच किया गया था. इस बांध की भंडारण क्षमता लगभग 11,472 मिलियन क्यूबिक मीटर है और 9.81 लाख एकड़ भूमि की सिंचाई क्षमता है.
14. वनस्पतिशास्त्री परशुराम मिश्रा:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1981में वनस्पतिशास्त्री परशुराम मिश्रा का निधन हुआ था.
15. अभिनेत्री अनुष्का सेन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2002 में अभिनेत्री अनुष्का सेन का जन्म रांची, झारखण्ड के एक बंगाली परिवार में हुआ था. अनुष्का के पिता का नाम अनिर्बन सेन और इनकी माता का नाम राजरूपा सेन है. अनुष्का ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत ज़ी टीवी के धारावाहिक यहाँ मैं घर घर खेली में एक बाल कलाकार के रूप में की थी.
16. उड़ीसा की महिला मुख्यमंत्री तथा लेखिका नंदिनी सत्पथी:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2006 में लेखिका नंदिनी सत्पथी का निधन भुवनेश्वर में हुआ था.
17. नवरत्न का दर्जा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में सरकार ने भारतीय जहाजरानी निगम (एससीआई) को नवरत्न का दर्जा प्रदान किया था.
18. उच्चतम न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश नियुक्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2018 में उत्तराखंड के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के. एम. जोसेफ, मद्रास की मुख्य न्यायाधीश इंदिरा बनर्जी और ओडिशा के मुख्य न्यायाधीश विनीत सरण को उच्चतम न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया था.
19. राजस्थान गौरव यात्रा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2018 में राजस्थान में मुख्यमंत्री वसुंधरा राजे ने राजसमंद जिले से राज्यव्यापी राजस्थान गौरव यात्रा के पहले चरण की शुरूआत की थी.
20. नेशनल स्कूल ऑफ़ ड्रामा के पूर्व निदेशक इब्राहिम अल्काज़ी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2020 में भारतीय रंगमंच और नेशनल स्कूल ऑफ़ ड्रामा के पूर्व निदेशक इब्राहिम अल्काज़ी का निधन नयी दिल्ली में हुआ था.

1. Rana Uday Singh:- On this day in the year 1522, Rana Uday Singh, the ruler of Mewar and father of Maharana Pratap, was born. In the year 1567, when Akbar laid siege to this fort for the second time regarding Chittorgarh, Rana Udai Singh’s prudence came in handy here. Akbar’s first ascent was made unsuccessful by the Rana.
2. Maratha Veer Sadashivrao Bhau:- On this day in the year 1730 Maratha Veer Sadashivrao Bhau was born. Sadashivrao Bhau was the cousin of Peshwa Balaji Bajirao.
3. Politician Ferozeshah Mehta:- On this day in the year 1730, Ferozeshah Mehta, the creator of the constitution (charter) of Bombay Municipality, was born in a famous business family in Mumbai. M.A. in Parsi society Firoz Shah Mehta was the first youth to pass. Firoz Shah studied law in England for four years and returned to India in 1868 after passing the barrister’s examination from there. Defending Bombay Commissioner Arthur Crawford in a legal case, he realized the need for local government reform and drafted the ‘Municipal Act’ of 1872, due to which he was called the ‘Father of Bombay Local Government’. Mehta used to lay a lot of emphasis on education. He had always opposed the tendency of considering bureaucracy as the parents of the people.
4. Politician Yashwant Singh Parmar:- On this day in the year 1906, politician Yashwant Singh Parmar was born in Chanalag, District Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. He did BA Honors in the year 1928; MA and LLB from Lucknow and did PhD in Sociology in the year 1944. He served as a Sub-Judge and Magistrate (1930-37) followed by District and Sessions Judge (1937-41) in Sirmour State for 11 years. Parmar joined the Suket Satyagraha Prajamandal regardless of his job and made the Satyagraha successful with his efforts. In the year 1963, Parmar became the Chief Minister of Himachal.
5. Writer Indu Prakash Pandey: – On this day in the year 1927, writer Indu Prakash Pandey was born. He was born in the house of Pt. Shambhu Ratan Pandey and Shubhadra Pandey of village Gegaso Shivpuri in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh. After receiving his primary education, the boy Indu Prakash stayed with the family in Kasganj, Ajmer, Mount Abu, and Rae Bareilly and received secondary education by staying at these places. Passed the high school examination in the year 1943. In the year 1943, actively participated in the Quit India movement started by Mahatma Gandhi and remained in jail after being arrested. In order to increase his educational qualification, Induau later studied many new disciplines of philology by participating in the ‘Summer and Autumn School of Linguistics’ organized by South College, Pune in the year 1955. During his teaching career, Dr. Pandey was active in various educational and academic committees. Through hundreds of articles, fifty poems, stories, portraits, etc., Indup also contributed to the repository of his national language Hindi.
6. Actor, singer, and director Kishore Kumar:- On this day in the year 1929, singer Kishore Kumar was born in Khandwa City of Madhya Pradesh. His father Shrikunjilal Khandwa was a well-known lawyer in the city. Kishore Kumar’s real name was Abhas Kumar Ganguly. He was educated at Christian College, Indore. Kishore started his film career with the film Shikari. His elder brother Ashok Kumar played the lead role in this film. Kishore got the opportunity to sing for the first time in the film Ziddi. During the struggle, Kishore worked in many films but did not get success. Let us tell that, in many films of Kishore Kumar’s debut, Mohammad Rafi gave his voice to Kishore Kumar. He passed the entrance examination from the ‘London Mission School’ of Mirzapur in the first class. After this, he went to ‘Oxford University’ for higher education. From where M.A. in History Did. On returning to India, Kashi Prasad Jaiswal tried to become a lecturer at ‘The University of Calcutta’, but he did not get the appointment due to his participation in the political movement. Started legal practice in Kolkata in the year 1911, but after a few years, in the year 1914, Kashi Prasad Jaiswal came to the ‘Patna High Court’ and then started practicing here. Kashi Prasad was also made the deputy minister of ‘Kashi Nagari Pracharini Sabha’. With the help of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Kashi Prasad Jaiswal established ‘History Council’. Let us tell that Kashi Prasad Jaiswal had an important contribution to the establishment of ‘The Patna Museum’.

10. Politician N. Rangaswamy:- On this day in the year 1950, politician N. Rangaswamy was born in Puducherry. N. Rangaswamy is the only Chief Minister who used to visit his constituency openly without any security cover. Rangaswamy significantly changed the infrastructure of the state and the lives of the citizens, while Puducherry was also ranked first in terms of women empowerment, literacy, road construction, and other public facilities. Besides this, N. Rangaswamy had also made arrangements to provide wheat to diabetic patients and senior citizens by starting the public distribution system.

Let us tell that this dam has been built on the Krishna River. Its height is about 124.663 meters. It is known that this dam was built by Raja Vasireddy Ramgopal Krishna Maheshwar Prasad. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is situated between Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, and Nalgonda district, Telangana. It was constructed between the years 1955-67. The storage capacity of this dam is about 11,472 million cubic meters and irrigation potential of 9.81 lakh acres of land.
14. Botanist Parshuram Mishra:- On this day in the year 1981, botanist Parshuram Mishra passed away.
15. Actress Anushka Sen:- On this day in the year 2002, actress Anushka Sen was born in a Bengali family in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Anushka’s father’s name is Anirban Sen and her mother’s name is Rajrupa Sen. Anushka started her film career as a child artist in the Zee TV serial Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli.
16. Woman Chief Minister of Orissa and writer Nandini Satpathy:- On this day in the year 2006, writer Nandini Satpathy passed away in Bhubaneswar.
