1. बंगाली कवयित्री कामिनी रॉय: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1864 में बंगाली कवयित्री कामिनी रॉय का जन्म बारीसाल जिले (बांग्लादेश) के बसंदा गाँव में हुआ था. उन्होंने अपनी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा बेथ्यून स्कूल से प्राप्त की साथ कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय के बेथ्यून कॉलेज से संस्कृत प्रावीण्य के साथ कला की डिग्री वर्ष 1886 में प्राप्त की थी. उसके बाद उसी कॉलेज में पढ़ाना भी शुरू कर दिया. बताते चलें कि, ब्रिटिश भारत में कादम्बिनी गांगुली, जो देश की दो महिला स्नातकों में से एक थी. वर्ष 1889 में कामनी रॉय की दो पुस्तकें प्रकाशित हुई थी. कामिनी रॉय ने कलकत्ता के एक स्कूल में अपने सम्बोधन में कहा कि, महिलाओं की शिक्षा का उद्देश्य उनके सर्वांगीण विकास में योगदान देना और उनकी क्षमता को पूरा करना है’.
2. क्रांतिकारी पेरीन बेन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1888 में पेरीन बेन का जन्म कच्छ रियासत के मांडवी कस्बे में हुआ था. पेरीन के दादा का नाम दादाभाई नौरोजी थे. ज्ञात है कि, दादाभाई नौरोजी वह व्यक्ति थे, जिनसे प्रभावित होकर महात्मा गांधी ने स्वराज्य के लिए अपने प्राण तक न्योछावर कर दिए थे. पेरिस यात्रा के दौरान पेरीन की जिंदगी ही बदल गई. उसके बाद पेरिन बेन वर्ष 1911 में भारत आईं और उन्हें अंग्रेजों के हाथों भेदभाव का बड़ा अपमानजनक अनुभव हुआ जिसके बाद वर्ष 1919 में महात्मा गांधी से मुलाकात कर उनकी अनुयायी बन गई थी. वर्ष 1930 में पेरिन बेन बॉम्बे (अब मुंबई) प्रांतीय कांग्रेस कमिटी की अध्यक्ष पद के लिए चुनी जाने वाली पहली महिला बनीं थीं. वर्ष 1930 में महात्मा गाँधी द्वारा चलाये गए असहयोग आंदोलन में भाग लीं और उन्हें गिरफ्तार करके जेल में डाल दिया गया था. वर्ष 1932 में जेल से मुक्त होने के बाद ‘गांधी सेवा सेना’ के सचिव के रूप में भी काम किया था.
3. वैज्ञानिक आत्मा राम: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1908 में वैज्ञानिक आत्मा राम का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के बिजनौर ज़िले में पीलाना नामक स्थान पर हुआ था. विज्ञान की शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद आत्माराम ने कांच और सेरोमिक्स पर शोध आरंभ किया और उन्होंने शोध करके भारत में ही ऐसा कांच बनाने की विधि का अविष्कार कर लिया था. ज्ञात है कि, भारत में यह कांच जर्मनी से आयात होता था.
4. क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी विजय मर्चेन्ट: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1911 में क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी विजय मर्चेन्ट का जन्म बम्बई के एक अमीर परिवार में हुआ था.
5. राजनीतिज्ञ शिवराज पाटील: –आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1911 में राजनीतिज्ञ शिवराज पाटील का जन्म महाराष्ट्र राज्य के लातूर जिले के चाकूर गांव में हुआ था. उन्होंने ओसमानिया विश्वविद्यालय, हैदराबाद से विज्ञान में स्नातक की उपाधि प्राप्त की. उसके बाद उन्होंने बम्बई विश्वविद्यालय में कानून का अध्ययन किया था. वर्ष 1972-77 तक महाराष्ट्र विधान सभा के सदस्य रहे थे. वर्ष 1980 में पाटील पाली बार भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के उम्मीदवार के रूप में लातूर संसदीय निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से लोक सभा के लिए निर्वाचित हुए थे.
6. उर्दू शायर और गीतकार निदा फ़ाज़ली: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1938 को उर्दू शायर और गीतकार निदा फ़ाज़ली का जन्म दिल्ली के एक शायर परिवार में हुआ था. निदा फ़ाज़ली की शिक्षा ग्वालियर, मध्य प्रदेश में हुई थी. निदा फ़ाज़ली के पिता भारत विभाजन के समय पाकिस्तान चले गए परन्तु निदा फ़ाज़ली भारत में रहकर देश को अपनी रचनात्मक प्रतिभा से समृद्ध कर रहे थे. उन्होंने जीविका की तलाश में मुंबई का रुख किया और ‘धर्मयुग’ और ‘ब्लिट्ज’ में आलेख भी लिखे साथ ही उन्होंने मुशायरों में भी बेहद लोकप्रियता हासिल कर ली थी. फ़िल्म निर्माता कमाल अमरोही ने निदा फ़ाज़ली को गीत लिखने का मौका दिया था.
7. सितार वादक शिवनाथ मिश्रा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1943 में सितार वादक शिवनाथ मिश्रा का जन्म वाराणसी में हुआ था.
8. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी डॉ. राममनोहर लोहिया: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1967 में डॉ. राममनोहर लोहिया का निधन नई दिल्ली में हुआ था.
9. अभिनेत्री अक्षरा हासन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1991 में अभिनेत्री अक्षरा हासन का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम अभिनेता कमल हासन और उनकी माँ का नाम अभिनेत्री सारिका ठाकुर है साथ ही इनकी बड़ी बहन का नाम अभिनेत्री श्रुति हासन है. अक्षरा हासन ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2010 में एक सहायक निर्देशक के रूप में की थी. अक्षरा हासन ने मणिरत्नम् की फ़िल्म ‘कदल’ में अभिनय भी किया है. अक्षरा हासन ने अपने बॉलीवुड कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म’ शमिताभ’ से की से की थी.
10. अभिनेत्री मीनाक्षी दीक्षित: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1993 में अभिनेत्री मीनाक्षी दीक्षित का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के रायबरेली जिले में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम ईश्वर चंद्र दीक्षित जो की पेशे से वकील हैं और उनकी माँ का नाम गीता दीक्षित हैं. मीनाक्षी ने स्नातक की डिग्री के साथ -साथ कथक और पश्चिमी नृत्य में भी प्रशिक्षण लिया है. मीनाक्षी दीक्षित ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत तेलुगु फिल्म, ‘लाइफस्टाइल’ से की थीं. मीनाक्षी दीक्षित ने अपने बॉलीवुड कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म ‘पी से पीएम तक’ से की थी.

1. Bengali poet Kamini Roy: – On this day in the year 1864, Bengali poet Kamini Roy was born in Basanda village of Barisal district (Bangladesh). He received his primary education from Bethune School and obtained a degree of Arts with Sanskrit proficiency from Bethune College of Calcutta University in the year 1886.
