- कवि फ़ैज़ी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1547 में मध्यकालीन भारत के फ़ारसी साहित्यकार और कवि फ़ैज़ी का जन्म आगरा के एक मामूली हस्ती के परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम शेख़ मुबारक़ नागौरी जो सिंध प्रदेश के सीस्तान, सहवान के पास एक सिंधी, शेख़ मूसा की पीढ़ी से सम्बन्ध रखते थे. फ़ैज़ी की गणना फारसी के महान कवियों में होती थी. उन्होंने भास्कराचार्य की गणित की पुस्तक लीलावती का फ़ारसी में अनुवाद किया था.

- संत श्री नारायण गुरु: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1856 में संत श्री नारायण गुरु का जन्म केरल के तिरुअनंतपुरम के उत्तर में एक छोटे से गाँव में पिछड़ी जाति के के परिवार में हुआ था. इनके बचपन का नाम “नानू” था. उनके पिता का नाम मदन असन एक किसान थे, वे प्रसिद्ध आचार्य (गुरुकुल के) और संस्कृत के विद्वान थे, आयुर्वेद और ज्योतिष के ज्ञाता भी थे. नारायण गुरु बचपन से ही बहुत नटखट थे. उनकी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा गांव के स्कूल से हुई थी. करीब 14 वर्ष की आयु में वे ‘नानू भक्त’ के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हो गए थे.

- यारवदा सेंट्रल जेल में महात्मा गांधी ने पहला उपवास किया: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1932 में पुणे में यरवदा जेल में अपने सेल में महात्मा गांधी ने भारत की चुनावी व्यवस्था को जाति से अलग करने के ब्रिटिश सरकार के फैसले के विरोध में भूख हड़ताल प्रारंभ की थी. गांधी जी के विरोध के बाद अंग्रेजों ने इस घोषणा को वापस ले लिया था.
