- राष्ट्रीय काँग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष सैयद हसन इमाम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1559 में राष्ट्रीय काँग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष सैयद हसन इमाम का जन्म पटना के नियोरा में हुआ था. उनके पिता इमदाद इमाम थे. शिया मुस्लिम मत को मानने वाला यह परिवार प्रतिष्ठित, शिक्षित मध्यम वर्ग का था. सैयद हसन इमाम ने स्कूली शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद खराब स्वास्थ्य के कारण उनकी पढ़ाई में अक्सर बाधा रहती थी इसलिए वह इंग्लैंड चले गये. वर्ष 1889 में हसन इमाम इंग्लैंड जाकर मिडिल टेंपल में भर्ती हो गए. वर्ष 1892 में हसन इमाम वापस भारत आये और कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय में प्रैक्टिस शुरू कर दी. वर्ष 1921 में हसन इमाम को बिहार व उड़ीसा की विधान परिषद के सदस्य मनोनीत किये गये. हसन इमाम ने खिलाफत आंदोलन में बढ़-चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया. वर्ष 1930 में सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन में शामिल हो गए और पटना में गठित स्वदेशी लीग के सचिव चुने गए.
- कवयित्री, उपन्यासकार और निबंधकार अमृता प्रीतम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1919 में कवयित्री अमृता प्रीतम का जन्म गुजराँवाला (पंजाब- पाकिस्तान) में हुआ था. उनकी शिक्षा लाहौर में हुई थी. अमृता प्रीतम ने पंजाबी लेखन से शुरुआत की और किशोरावस्था से ही शुरू कर दिया था. विभाजन का दर्द इन्होंने सहा और महसूस किया. विभाजन के बाद दिल्ली आकर बस गई और अमृता ने पंजाबी के साथ हिंदी में भी लिखना शुरू कर दिया. विभाजन की पीड़ा को लेकर इनके उपन्यास ‘पिंजर’ पर एक फ़िल्म भी बनी थी, जो अच्छी ख़ासी चर्चा में रही थी. अमृता ने अब तक लगभग 100 पुस्तकें लिखीं है.
- मराठी भाषा के साहित्यकार शिवाजी सावंत:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1940 में साहित्यकार शिवाजी सावंत का जन्म आजरा, ज़िला कोल्हापुर (महाराष्ट्र) में हुआ था.
- राज्य पुनर्गठन विधेयक को मंजूरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 में भारत के तत्कालीन राष्ट्रपति डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद ने राज्य पुनर्गठन विधेयक को मंजूरी दी थी. बताते चलें कि, इसके बाद देश के अन्य क्षेत्रों में भी भाषायी आधार पर राज्यों की मांग के जोर पकड़ने के कारण वर्ष 1956 में राज्य पुनर्गठन आयोग की स्थापना की गई थी. आयोग की रिपोर्ट के आधार पर वर्ष 1956 में पारित राज्य पुनर्गठन अधिनियम द्वारा भाषायी आधार पर 14 राज्यों तथा 6 केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों का गठन हुआ था.
- राजनीतिज्ञ पल्लम राजू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1962 में राजनीतिज्ञ पल्लम राजू का जन्म पीतापुरम, पूर्व गोदावरी ज़िला, आंध्र प्रदेश में हुआ था. पल्लम राजू की स्कूली शिक्षा हैदराबाद पब्लिक स्कूल से ली और आंध्र विश्वविद्यालय से इंजीनियरिंग की डिग्री ली थी. उन्होंने वर्ष 1983–1985 में अमेरिका की टेम्पल यूनीवर्सिटी से एम.बी.ए. किया. पल्लम राजू ने इंडियन एयरलाइंस और एयर इंडिया के बोर्ड पर एक निर्देशक के रूप में 1994-97 तक सेवा दी थी. वर्ष 2004 और जनवरी 2006 के बीच सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी और डाक, सूचना और प्रसारण के विभागों में संसदीय स्थायी समिति के अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्य किया.
- बांग्ला फ़िल्मों के निर्देशक, लेखक और अभिनेता ऋतुपर्णो घोष:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1962 में अभिनेता ऋतुपर्णो घोष का जन्म कोलकाता, पश्चिम बंगाल में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम सुनील घोष था. सुनील घोष डॉक्युमेंट्री फ़िल्म मेकर और पैंटर थे. ऋतुपर्णो घोष ने अपनी प्रारम्भिक स्कूली शिक्षा ‘साउथ पॉइंट हाईस्कूल’ से प्राप्त की. उन्होंने अपनी अर्थशास्त्र की डिग्री ‘जादवपुर यूनिवर्सिटी’, कोलकाता से प्राप्त की थी. ऋतुपर्णो घोष को फ़िल्म मेकिंग की प्रेरणा अपने पिता से ही मिली थी. विज्ञापन की दुनिया से अपना कैरियर शुरू करने वाले ऋतुपर्णो घोष ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत बाल फ़िल्मों के निर्माण से की. वर्ष 1994 में बाल फ़िल्म ‘हिरेर आंग्टी’ के निर्देशन से उन्हें शोहरत मिलने लगी थी. ऋतुपर्णो की भाषा बँगला होने के कारण अधिकतर फ़िल्में उन्होंने बांग्ला भाषा में ही बनाईं थी.
- सफल प्रक्षेपण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1968 में भारत में टू-स्टेज राउंडिंग रॉकेट रोहिणी-एमएसवी 1 का सफल प्रक्षेपण किया गया था.
- उपग्रह इनसेट-1 बी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1983 में भारत के उपग्रह इनसेट-1 बी को अमेरिका के अंतरिक्ष शटल चैलेंजर से प्रसारित किया गया था.
- मुख्यमंत्री बेअंत सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1995 में कांग्रेस के नेता और पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री बेअंत सिंह की हत्या चंडीगढ़ के सचिव परिसर में एक बम विस्फोट में कर दी गई थी. बताते चलें कि, पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री बेअंत सिंह का कार्यकाल वर्ष 1992-95 तक ही था.
- सी.टी.बी.टी. का विरोध किया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1996 में ब्रिटेन की लेबर पार्टी ने भी भारत की तर्ज पर सी.टी.बी.टी. के उस प्रावधान का विरोध किया, जिसमें निरस्त्रीकरण सम्मेलन के सदस्य देशों को संधि पर हस्ताक्षर करना आवश्यक है.
- विजयशंकर मल्ल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2003 में विजयशंकर मल्ल का निधन हुआ था. बताते चलें कि, इन्होंने भारतेन्दु काल के गद्य को “हंसमुख गद्य” की संज्ञा दी थी.
- भूमि विवाद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में सरकार ने अमरनाथ भूमि विवाद सुलझाया था.
- सर्वसम्मति से पार्टी का अध्यक्ष:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2009 में जनता दल (यूनाइटेड) की राष्ट्रीय परिषद के नई दिल्ली में आयोजित सम्मेलन में शरद यादव को पुनः सार्वसम्मति से पार्टी का अध्यक्ष चुन लिया गया था.

- परमाणु जन दायित्व विधेयक पारित:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2010 में भारतीय संसद ने परमाणु संयंत्र में किसी दुर्घटना की स्थिति में शीघ्र मुआवजा सुनिश्चित करने वाला परमाणु जन दायित्व विधेयक पारित किया था. इस क़ानून के ज़रिए दुर्घटना से प्रभावित लोगों को क्षतिपूर्ति या मुआवज़ा मिल सकेगा.

- तेरहवें राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2020 में भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता और भारत के तेरहवें राष्ट्रपति रह चुके प्रणब मुखर्जी का निधन हुआ था.

- Former President of National Congress Syed Hasan Imam:- On this day in the year 1559, former President of National Congress Syed Hasan Imam was born in Neora, Patna. His father was Imdad Imam. This family, who believed in Shia Muslim opinion, belonged to the prestigious, educated middle class. After Syed Hasan Imam completed his schooling, his studies were often hindered due to ill health, so he went to England. In the year 1889, Hasan Imam went to England and was admitted to the Middle Temple. Hasan Imam came back to India in the year 1892 and started practice in the Calcutta High Court. In the year 1921, Hasan Imam was nominated as a member of the Legislative Council of Bihar and Orissa. Hasan Imam actively participated in the Khilafat movement. In the year 1930, he joined the Civil Disobedience Movement and was elected Secretary of the Swadeshi League formed in Patna.
- Poete, Novelist and Essayist Amrita Pritam:- On this day in the year 1919, poetess Amrita Pritam was born in Gujranwala (Punjab-Pakistan). He was educated in Lahore. Amrita Pritam started writing in Punjabi and started it in her teenage years. He endured and felt the pain of partition. After partition, she settled in Delhi and Amrita started writing in Hindi along with Punjabi. A film was also made on his novel ‘Pinjar’ regarding the pain of partition, which was in great discussion. Amrita has written about 100 books so far.
- Marathi language litterateur Shivaji Sawant:- On this day in the year 1940, litterateur Shivaji Sawant was born in Azra, district Kolhapur (Maharashtra).
- Approval of the State Reorganization Bill:- On this day in the year 1956, the then President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad approved the State Reorganization Bill. Let us tell you that after this, due to the growing demand for states on a linguistic basis in other areas of the country, the State Reorganization Commission was established in the year 1956. On the basis of the report of the Commission, 14 states and 6 union territories were formed on a linguistic basis by the States Reorganization Act passed in the year 1956.
- Politician Pallam Raju:- On this day in the year 1962, politician Pallam Raju was born in Pithapuram, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Pallam Raju did his schooling at Hyderabad Public School and took an engineering degree from Andhra University. He did an MBA from Temple University of America in the year 1983–1985. Did. Pallam Raju served as a director on the boards of Indian Airlines and Air India from 1994–97. - Bengali film director, writer, and actor Rituparno Ghosh:- On this day in the year 1962, actor Rituparno Ghosh was born in Kolkata, West Bengal. His father’s name was Sunil Ghosh. Sunil Ghosh was a documentary filmmaker and painter. Rituparno Ghosh received his early schooling from ‘South Point High School’. He obtained his economics degree from ‘Jadavpur University’, Kolkata. Rituparno Ghosh got the inspiration for filmmaking from his father. Rituparno Ghosh, who started his career in the world of advertising, started his film career with the production of children’s films. In the year 1994, he started getting fame by directing the children’s film ‘Hireer Aunty’. Since Rituparno’s language was Bengali, he made most of his films in Bengali language only.
