1. चंगेज खाँ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1227 में चंगेज़ ख़ाँ का निधन हुआ था.
2. बाजीराव प्रथम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1700 में मराठा साम्राज्य के सेनानायक बाजीराव प्रथम का जन्म हुआ था. बालाजी विश्वनाथ और राधाबाई के बड़े पुत्र थे बाजीराव प्रथम. बाजीराव प्रथम को ‘बाजीराव बल्लाल’ तथा ‘थोरले बाजीराव’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. बाजीराव प्रथम विस्तार वादी प्रवृत्ति का व्यक्ति था। उसने हिन्दू जाति की कीर्ति को विस्तृत करने के लिए ‘हिन्दू पद पादशाही’ के आदर्श को फैलाने का प्रयत्न किया था.
3. राघोबा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1734 में पेशवा बाजीराव प्रथम का द्वितीय पुत्र राघोबा का जन्म हुआ था. राघोबा एक कुशल सेना नायक थे. राघोबा का पूरा नाम रघुनाथराव है. अपने बड़े भाई बालाजी बाजीराव के पेशवा काल में उसने होल्कर के सहयोग से उत्तरी भारत में बृहत सैनिक अभियान चलाया था.
4. फोर्ट विलियम कॉलेज:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1800 में लॉर्ड वेलेजली ने कलकत्ता में फोर्ट विलियम कॉलेज की स्थापना की थी. ज्ञात है कि, फोर्ट विलियम कॉलेज कोलकाता में स्थित प्राच्य विद्याओं एवं भाषाओं के अध्ययन का केन्द्र है. इस संस्था द्वारा संस्कृत, अरबी, फारसी, बंगला, हिन्दी, उर्दू आदि के हजारों पुस्तकों का अनुवाद किया गया है.
5. शास्त्रीय गायक विष्णु दिगम्बर पलुस्कर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1872 में शास्त्रीय गायक विष्णु दिगम्बर पलुस्कर का जन्म अंग्रेज़ी शासन वाले बंबई प्रेसीडेंसी के कुरूंदवाड़ (बेलगाँव) में हुआ था. इनके पिता दिगम्बर गोपाल पलुस्कर है जो धार्मिक भजन और कीर्तन गाते थे. ग्वालियर घराने में शिक्षित पं. बालकृष्ण बुवा इचलकरंजीकर से मिरज में संगीत की शिक्षा आरंभ की. पलुस्कर संभवत: पहले ऐसे शास्त्रीय गायक हैं, जिन्होंने संगीत के सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए थे. विष्णु दिगम्बर पलुस्कर मथुरा आए और उन्होंने शास्त्रीय संगीत की बंदिशें समझने के लिए ब्रज भाषा सीखी. इसके अलावा उन्होंने मथुरा में ध्रुपद शैली का गायन भी सीखा. पलुस्कर ने वर्ष 1901 में उन्होंने गंधर्व महाविद्यालय की स्थापना की. विष्णु दिगम्बर पलुस्कर ने तीन खंडों में ‘संगीत बाल-बोध’ नामक पुस्तक लिखी और 18 खंडों में रागों की स्वरलिपियों को संग्रहित किया है.
6. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी विजया लक्ष्मी पंडित:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1900 में विजया लक्ष्मी पंडित का जन्म इलाहाबाद, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. विजया लक्ष्मी पंडित भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरु की बहन थी. विजया लक्ष्मी के बचपन का नाम स्वरूप था. इनके पिता का नाम मोती लाल नेहरू था. विजया लक्ष्मी महात्मा गाँधी के विचारों से प्रभावित थीं. विजया लक्ष्मी का विवाह वर्ष 1921 में बैरिस्टर रणजीत सीताराम पण्डित से हो गया था. गांधजी ने जब  आंदोलन का आवाहन किया तो विजया लक्ष्मी इस आंदोलन में भाग ली और गिरफ्तार भी हुईं. वर्ष 1937 के चुनाव में विजयलक्ष्मी उत्तर प्रदेश विधान सभा की सदस्य चुनी गईं थी. द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध आरम्भ होने के बाद मंत्रिपद छोड़ते ही विजयलक्ष्मी पण्डित को फिर बन्दी बना लिया गया. जेल से बाहर आने पर वर्ष 1942 के ‘भारत छोड़ो आन्दोलन’ में वे फिर से गिरफ़्तार की गईं. वर्ष 1945 में विजयलक्ष्मी पण्डित अमेरिका गईं और अपने भाषणों के द्वारा उन्होंने भारत की स्वतंत्रता के पक्ष में जोरदार प्रचार किया. स्वतंत्रता के बाद विजयलक्ष्मी पण्डित ने ‘संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ’ में भारत के प्रतिनिधि मण्डल का नेतृत्व किया और संघ में महासभा की प्रथम महिला अध्यक्ष निर्वाचित की गईं.
7. परमवीर चक्र से सम्मानित ए. बी. तारापोरे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में ए. बी. तारापोरे ( अर्देशिर बर्जारी तारापोरे ) का जन्म बम्बई (अब मुम्बई), महाराष्ट्र में हुआ था. बहादुरी की विरासत लेकर जन्मे तारापोरे की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा सरदार दस्तूर व्वायज़ स्कूल पूना में हुई, जहाँ से उन्होंने वर्ष 1940 में मैट्रिक पास किया था. उसके बाद उन्होंने फौज में दाखिला लिया और उनका सैन्य प्रशिक्षण ऑफिसर ट्रेनिंग स्कूल गोलकुंडा में पूरा हुआ था. उसके बाद तारापोरे को 1 जनवरी 1942 को बतौर कमीशंड ऑफिसर 7वीं हैदराबाद इंफेंटरी में नियुक्त किया गया था. वर्ष 1965 को तारापोरे को स्यालकोट पाकिस्तान के ही फिल्लौरा पर अचानक हमले का काम सौंपा गया. फिल्लौरा पर एक तरफ से हमला करके भारतीय सेना का इरादा चाविंडा को जीतने का था. इस हमले के दौरान तारापोरे अपनी टुकड़ी के साथ आगे बढ़ ही रहे थे कि दुश्मन ने वज़ीराली की तरफ से अचानक ज़वाबी हमले में जबरदस्त गोलीबारी शुरू कर दी. तारापोरे ने इस हमले का बहादुरी से सामना किया और अपने एक स्क्वेड्रन को इंफंटरी के साथ लेकर फिल्लौरा पर हमला बोल दिया. हालाँकि तारापोरे इस दौरान घायल हो गए थे, लेकिन उन्होंने रण नहीं छोड़ा और जबरदस्त गोलीबारी करते हुए डटे रहे. लेफ्टिनेंट अर्नल ए. बी. तारापोरे को मरणोपरान्त परमवीर चक्र से सम्मानित किया था.
8. गीतकार गुलज़ार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1936 में गीतकार, कवि और फ़िल्म निर्देश गुलज़ार का जन्म झेलम जिला पंजाब के दीना गाँव में, जो अब पाकिस्तान में हुआ था. उनकी माँ उन्हें बचपन में ही छोड़ कर चल बसीं. बंटवारे के बाद उनका परिवार अमृतसर (पंजाब, भारत) आकर बस गया, वहीं गुलज़ार साहब मुंबई चले आये. गुलजार का वास्तविक नाम सम्पूर्ण सिंह कालरा था. वर्ली के एक गेरेज में वे बतौर मेकेनिक काम करने लगे और खाली समय में किताबें पढने लगे जिससे उन्हें लिखने का आकर्षण बढने लगा. गुलजार ने फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री में बिमल राय, हृषिकेश मुख़र्जी और हेमंत कुमार के सहायक के तौर पर काम शुरू किया और बिमल राय की फ़िल्म बन्दिनी के लिए गुलज़ार ने अपना पहला गीत लिखा. गुलजार ने बतौर निर्देशक अपना सफर वर्ष 1971 में ‘मेरे अपने’ से शुरू किया था. गुलजार को वर्ष 2004 में भारत के सर्वोच्च सम्मान पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित किया गया था.
9. सुभाष चन्द्र बोस:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1945 में ताइवान के ताइहोकू हवाई अड्डा पर सुभाष चन्द्र बोस का विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया जिसमें उनकी मृत्यु हो गई थी.
10. अभिनेत्री अरुणा ईरानी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1946 में अभिनेत्री अरुणा ईरानी का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. उनके पिता फरीदुन ईरानी ने नाटक मंडली चलाई, और उनकी माँ सगुना अभिनेत्री थीं. अरुणा ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत बाल कलाकार के रूप में की थी. उनकी पहली फिल्म गंगा जमुना थी. उन्होंने अपना पहला फ़िल्मफ़ेयर सर्वश्रेष्ठ सहायक अभिनेत्री पुरस्कार पेट प्यार और पाप  के लिए मिला था.  अपने बाद के कैरियर में, अरुणा ने विभिन्न धारावाहिकों में चरित्र भूमिकाएं निभाते हुए टेलीविजन पर भी कदम रखा.
11. भारतीय प्रौद्योगिक संस्थान (खडगपुर): – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1951 में पश्चिम बंगाल के खडगपुर में भारतीय प्रौद्योगिक संस्थान (इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी) की स्थापना हुई थी. इसे मैसाचुसेट्स इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी, यूएसए के मॉडल पर स्थापित किया गया था. इसकी स्थापना भारत के तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने की थी.
12. राजनीतिज्ञ वी के शशिकला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1954 में राजनीतिज्ञ वी के शशिकला का जन्म थिरुथुरईपूंडी, तंजौर, तमिलनाडु में हुआ था.
13. क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी संदीप पाटिल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 में क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी संदीप पाटिल का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. उनके पिता, मधुसूदन पाटिल, एक पूर्व प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेटर थे, और राष्ट्रीय स्तर के बैडमिंटन खिलाड़ी और टेनिस और फुटबॉल के कुशल खिलाड़ी भी थे. संदीप अपने कैरियर के शुरुआती दौर में मध्यम पेसर थे.उन्होंने 29 टेस्ट मैचों 1588 रन बनाए थे.
14. गायक दलेर मेंहदी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1967 में गायक दलेर मेंहदी का जन्म हुआ था.
15. अभिनेत्री प्रीति झंगियानी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1980 में अभिनेत्री प्रीति झंगियानी का जन्म मुंबई के एक सिंधी परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम गोबिन्द झंगियानी और माता का नाम मनिका झंगियानी है. उन्होंने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2002 में फिल्म मोहब्बतें से की थीं. प्रीति झंगियानी ने मॉडलिंग कैरियर के दौरान राजश्री प्रोडक्शन के म्यूजिक वीडिओ ‘छुई मुई सी तुम’ में अभिनय करने का मौका मिला था, जो की उस दौर का हिट वीडियो साबित हुआ था. वर्ष 2008 में प्रीति झंगियानी ने मॉडल परवीन डबास से विवाह किया.
16. साहित्यकार श्रीनारायण चतुर्वेदी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1990 में साहित्यकार तथा सरस्वती पत्रिका के संपादक श्रीनारायण चतुर्वेदी का निधन हुआ था.
17. छठे वेतन आयोग की सिफारिशों को लागू करने:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में उत्तर प्रदेश में मायावती सरकार ने छठे वेतन आयोग की सिफारिशों को लागू करने की घोषणा की थी.
18. टीवीएस गोल्ड भारत:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2010 में टीवीएस इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स ने ‘टीवीएस गोल्ड भारत’ नामक अपने नए कुंजी पटल में टैब के ठीक ऊपर रुपए के चिन्ह को शामिल किया था.

1. Changez Khan: – Changez Khan died on this day in the year 1227.
2. Bajirao I: – On this day in the year 1700, Bajirao I, the general of the Maratha Empire, was born. Bajirao I was the elder son of Balaji Vishwanath and Radhabai. Bajirao I is also known as ‘Bajirao Ballal’ and ‘Thorle Bajirao’. Bajirao was the first expansionist person. He tried to spread the idea of ‘Hindu Pad Padshahi’ to expand the fame of the Hindu caste.
3. Raghoba:- On this day in the year 1734, the second son of Peshwa Bajirao I, Raghoba was born. Raghoba was a skilled army leader. Raghoba’s full name is Raghunathrao. During the Peshwa period of his elder brother Balaji Bajirao, he conducted a large military campaign in northern India with the help of Holkar.
4. Fort William College: – On this day in the year 1800, Lord Wellesley established Fort William College in Calcutta. It is known that Fort William College is a center for the study of oriental studies and languages located in Kolkata. Thousands of books in Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, Bangla, Hindi, Urdu, etc. have been translated by this institution.
5. Classical singer Vishnu Digambar Paluskar:- On this day in the year 1872, classical singer Vishnu Digambar Paluskar was born in Kurundwad (Belgaum) of the Bombay Presidency under British rule. His father is Digambar Gopal Paluskar who used to sing religious hymns and kirtans. Educated in Gwalior Gharana, he started music lessons from Pt. Balakrishna Buwa Ichalkaranjikar in Miraj. Paluskar is probably the first classical singer who organized public concerts of music. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar came to Mathura and learned Braj Bhasha to understand the restrictions of classical music. Apart from this, he also learned Dhrupad-style singing in Mathura. Paluskar established the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in the year 1901. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar wrote a book named ‘Sangeet Bal-Bodh’ in three volumes and collected the notes of ragas in 18 volumes.
6. Freedom Fighter Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit:- On this day in the year 1900, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit was the sister of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. The childhood name of Vijaya Lakshmi was Swaroop. His father’s name was Moti Lal Nehru. Vijaya Lakshmi was influenced by the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi. Vijaya Lakshmi was married in the year 1921 to Barrister Ranjit Sitaram Pandit. When Gandhiji called for the movement, Vijaya Lakshmi participated in this movement and was also arrested. Vijayalakshmi was elected a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the year 1937 elections. Vijayalakshmi Pandit was once again imprisoned as soon as she left the ministerial post after the start of the Second World War. After coming out of jail, she was arrested again in the ‘Quit India Movement’ of 1942. In the year 1945, Vijayalakshmi Pandit went to America, and through her speeches, she campaigned vigorously in favor of India’s independence. After independence, Vijayalakshmi Pandit led India’s delegation to the ‘United Nations and was elected the first woman president of the General Assembly in the Union.
7. Awarded with Paramveer Chakra A. B. Tarapore:- On this day in the year 1923, A. B. Tarapore (Ardeshir Barjari Tarapore) was born in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra. Born with a legacy of bravery, Tarapore did his early education at the Sardar Dastur Voyage School, Poona, from where he passed his matriculation in the year 1940. After that, he joined the army, and his military training was completed at Officer Training School Golconda. After that Tarapore was appointed as a commissioned officer in the 7th Hyderabad Infantry on 1 January 1942. In the year 1965, Tarapore was assigned the task of surprise attack on Phillaura of Sialkot Pakistan. By attacking Phillaura from one side, the Indian army intended to win Chawinda. During this attack, Tarapore was moving forward with his unit when the enemy suddenly started firing fiercely from Vazirali’s side. Tarapore faced this attack bravely and took one of his squadrons with infantry and attacked Phillaura. Although Tarapore was injured during this, he did not leave the battle and kept on firing fiercely. Lieutenant Colonel A. B. Tarapore was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
8. Lyricist Gulzar:- On this day in the year 1936, lyricist, poet, and film director Gulzar was born in Dina village of Jhelum district Punjab, which is now in Pakistan. His mother left him in his childhood and passed away. After partition, his family settled in Amritsar (Punjab, India), while Gulzar Sahab moved to Mumbai. Gulzar’s real name was Sampooran Singh Kalra. He started working as a mechanic in a garage in Worli and started reading books in his spare time, which attracted him to write. Gulzar started working in the film industry as an assistant to Bimal Rai, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and Hemant Kumar and wrote his first song for Bimal Rai’s film Bandini. Gulzar started his journey as a director in the year 1971 with ‘Mere Apne’. Gulzar was awarded India’s highest honor Padma Bhushan in the year 2004.
9. Subhash Chandra Bose:- On this day in the year 1945, Subhash Chandra Bose’s plane crashed at Taiwan’s Taihoku airport where he died.
10. Actress Aruna Irani:- On this day in the year 1946, actress Aruna Irani was born in Mumbai. His father Faridun Irani ran a drama troupe, and his mother Saguna was an actress. Aruna started her film career as a child artist. His first film was Ganga Jamuna. She received her first Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for Pet Pyaar Aur Paap. In her later career, Aruna also ventured into television, playing character roles in various serials.
11. Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur): – On this day in the year 1951, the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian Institute of Technology) was established in Kharagpur, West Bengal. It was established on the model of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. It was founded by Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India.
12. Politician VK Sasikala:- On this day in the year 1954, politician VK Sasikala was born in Thiruthuraipoondi, Tanjore, Tamil Nadu.
13. Cricketer Sandeep Patil:- On this day in the year 1956, cricketer Sandeep Patil was born in Mumbai. His father, Madhusudan Patil, was a former first-class cricketer and was also a national-level badminton player and an accomplished player of tennis and football. Sandeep was a medium pacer in the early part of his career. He scored 1588 runs in 29 test matches.
14. Singer Daler Mehndi:- On this day in the year 1967, singer Daler Mehndi was born.
15. Actress Preeti Jhangiani:- On this day in the year 1980, actress Preeti Jhangiani was born in a Sindhi family in Mumbai. His father’s name is Gobind Jhangiani and his mother’s name is Manika Jhangiani. He started his film career in the year 2002 with the film Mohabbatein. During her modeling career, Preeti Jhangiani got a chance to act in Rajshree Production’s music video ‘Chui Mui Si Tum’, which proved to be a hit video of that era. In the year 2008, Preeti Jhangiani married model Parveen Dabas.
16. Writer Srinarayan Chaturvedi: – On this day in the year 1990, writer and editor of Saraswati Patrika Srinarayan Chaturvedi passed away.
