राष्ट्रीय वन शहीद दिवस भारत में हर साल 11 सितंबर को मनाया जाता है. इस दिन का उद्देश्य उन वन अधिकारियों और कर्मियों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करना है, जिन्होंने वनों और वन्यजीवों की रक्षा करते हुए अपने प्राणों की आहुति दी.
इस दिन की शुरुआत 1730 में राजस्थान के खेजड़ली गाँव की एक ऐतिहासिक घटना से जुड़ी है, जहाँ अमृता देवी बिश्नोई और उनके 363 साथियों ने खेजड़ी के पेड़ों की कटाई का विरोध करते हुए अपनी जान गंवा दी थी. इस बलिदान को याद करते हुए, पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालय ने 2013 में 11 सितंबर को वन शहीद दिवस के रूप में मनाने का निर्णय लिया.
इस दिन वन कर्मियों और उनके परिवारों को सम्मानित किया जाता है और विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जाता है ताकि पर्यावरण संरक्षण और वन्य जीवन की सुरक्षा के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाई जा सके.

National Forest Martyrs Day
National Forest Martyrs Day is celebrated every year on 11 September in India. The purpose of this day is to pay tribute to those forest officials and personnel who sacrificed their lives while protecting forests and wildlife.
The origin of this day is associated with a historical incident in Khejadli village of Rajasthan in 1730, where Amrita Devi Bishnoi and her 363 companions lost their lives while protesting against the felling of Khejari trees. Remembering this sacrifice, the Ministry of Environment and Forests decided to celebrate 11 September as Forest Martyrs Day in 2013.
On this day, forest personnel and their families are honored and various programs are organized to raise awareness about environmental conservation and protection of wildlife.
