मैं वह भारत हूँ, जिसने पिछले पाँच हजार वर्ष में कभी अपने किसी बेटे का नाम दुशासन नहीं रखा क्योंकि उसने एक स्त्री का अपमान किया था. मैं वह भारत हूँ, जो कभी अपने बच्चों को रावण, कंस नाम नहीं देता, क्योंकि इन्होंने अपने जीवन में स्त्रियों के साथ दुर्व्यवहार किया था. मैं वह भारत हूँ, जहाँ कोई गांधारी अपने सौ पुत्रों की मृत्यु के बाद भी द्रौपदी पर क्रोध नहीं करती, बल्कि अपने बेटों की असभ्यता के लिए क्षमा मांगती है.
मैं वह भारत हूँ, जहाँ निन्यानवे प्रतिशत बलात्कारियों को अपना गाँव छोड़ देना पड़ता है और उसे धक्का कोई और नहीं, खुद उसके खानदान वाले देते हैं. मैं वह भारत हूँ, जहाँ गुस्सा आने पर सामान्य बाप बेटे को भले लात से मार दे, पर बेटी को थप्पड़ नहीं मारता! मैं वह भारत हूँ जहाँ एक सामान्य बाप अपने समूचे जीवन की कमाई अपनी बेटी के लिए सुखी संसार रचने में खर्च कर देता है.
मैं वह भारत हूँ, जहाँ अब भी बेटियाँ लक्ष्मी होती हैं. मैं वह भारत हूँ, जहां बेटे बाप के हृदय में बसते हैं और बेटियां उसकी आत्मा में बसती हैं. सभ्यता में असभ्यता के संक्रमण से उपजी आधुनिक कुरीतियों ने बेटियों के जन्म पर उपजने वाले उल्लास का रंग भले मार दिया हो, पर अब भी पिता सर्वाधिक खुश अपनी बेटी की मुस्कान देख कर ही होता है.
मैं वह भारत हूँ, जिसके सौ करोड़ बच्चे अब भी नहीं लांघते मर्यादा की लकीर! उनमें बसते हैं राम, बसते हैं कृष्ण, बसते हैं शिव. उनके बीच निर्भय हो कर मुस्कुराती है कोई राधा, कोई मीरा कोई अनुसुइया. मैं वह भारत हूँ, जिसके हृदय में अब भी धर्म बहता है. समाज की प्रतिष्ठा पराजित नहीं होती ** के अश्लील ठहाकों से,रोजी के लिए राष्ट्र पर प्रहार करने वाले चर्चित भले हों, प्रतिष्ठित नहीं होते. मैं वह भारत हूँ, जिसकी प्रतिष्ठा स्वयं प्रकृति तय करती है, जिसके मस्तक पर तिलक स्वयं सूर्य लगाते हैं. मैं भारत हूँ.
