हमारे समाज में भी हमें आए दिन इस तरह के नज़ारे देखने को मिलते हैं, जब कोई इंसान किसी मुद्दे पर कोई बयान दे देता है, तो कुछ भोले भाले लोग बिना जांच पड़ताल किए उसके बयान पर यक़ीन भी कर लेते हैं।गोस्वामी तुलसीदास महाराज हमारी संस्कृति का, हमारी सभ्यता का एक अहम हिस्सा हैं, तुलसीदास महाराज ही वह व्यक्ति हैं जिन्होंने अपने साथ-साथ पूरे भारतवर्ष को राम नाम का दृश्य दिखाया, तुलसीदास महाराज ही व्यक्ति हैं जिन्होंने श्रीरामचरितमानस और हनुमान चालीसा जैसी नायाब रचनाओं को जन्म दिया और अपने दोहों के ज़रिएज़, अपनी चौपाइयों के ज़रिए, अपने सौरठों के ज़रिए पूरी दुनिया को इंसानियत का, धर्म का, भक्ति का, प्रीति का असली मतलब समझाया।आज के दौर में पहले ही हममें से अधिकतर लोग अपनी संस्कृति छोड़कर पश्चिमी सभ्यता के रंग में रंगते जा रहे हैं, और ऐसे हालात में अगर कुछ ज़िम्मेदार लोग तुलसीदास महाराज के दो-चार दोहों का अर्थ तोड़ मरोड़ कर लोगों के सामने पेश करेंगे और उन दो-चार दोहों के बल पर पूरी रामचरितमानस और तुलसीदास महाराज की बाक़ी रचनाओं पर प्रतिबंध लगाने की माँग करेंगे, तो जिन लोगों ने तुलसीदास महाराज की रचनाएं नहीं पढ़ी हैं, जो लोग तुलसीदास महाराज के जीवन से उनके व्यतित्व से वाकिफ़ नहीं हैं, वह लोग तो इन तमाम बातों पर आँख बंद करके भरोसा कर लेंगे, मिसाल के तौर पर अगर कोई यह बात कहता है कि तुलसीदास महाराज के दोहे या उनकी रचनाएं ग़लत हैं, तो बहुत मुमकिन है कि उस समाज का एक बड़ा वर्ग तुलसीदास महाराज को सिरे से नकार दे आलोचना करना ग़लत नहीं है, तज़दीक़ करना ग़लत नहीं है, लेकिन सैकड़ों पन्नो के ग्रंथ में से दो-चार पंक्तियां उठाकर उन पंक्तियों के बिनाह पर पूरे ग्रंथ को ग़लत करार दे देना सरासर बेवकूफ़ी की है, जिन तुलसीदास महाराज के बारे में कहा जा रहा है कि वह स्त्री विरोधी थे, दलित विरोधी थे, उनके अंदर दया नहीं थी, उन्हीं तुलसीदास महाराज ने यह भी कहा है कि
दया धर्म का मूल है, पाप मूल अभिमान।
तुलसी दया न छोड़िए, जब तक घट में प्राण।
वह व्यक्ति जिन्होंने भक्ति की नई परिभाषा इजाद की, वह व्यक्ति जिन्होंने अपना पूरा जीवन समाज की बेहतरी के लिए समर्पित कर दिया, वह व्यक्ति जिन्होंने भारतीय संस्कृति को और भारतीय साहित्य को एक अलग ऊंचाइयों पर ले जा कर खड़ा कर दिया, ऐसे व्यक्ति के बारे में अगर बिना सोचे समझे इस तरह की बातें कही जायेंगी तो इस ग़लती की सज़ा हमारे साथ-साथ हमारी आने वाली नस्ल को भी चुकानी पड़ेगी, अपनी संस्कृति से, अपनी सभ्यता से, अपने मूल्यों से हाथ धोना पड़ेगा। हम यह नहीं कह रहे हैं कि सवाल करना ग़लत है, हम बस इतना कहने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं कि उन सवालों के जवाब सुने बिना अपना फ़ैसला सुना देना सही बात नहीं है।
हमें पूरा यक़ीन है की अगर तुलसीदास महाराज आज इस धरा पर मौजूद होते तो भी वह अपने ऊपर लगे हुए इल्ज़ामों से क्रोधित नहीं होते, बल्कि ऐसे हालात में भी उनकी जीभ पर मीठी वाणी का ही वास होता, क्योंकि तुलसी मीठे बचन “ ते सुख उपजत चहुँ और। “ बसीकरण इक मन्त्र हैं परिहरू बचन कठोर। अर्थात – तुलसीदास जी कहते हैं कि जो मीठी बोली की फ़सल बोता है, उसको मीठा फल ही मिलता है। किसी को अपने वश में करने के सबसे अच्छे मंत्र हैं, “मीठे बोल”। इसलिए हर इंसान को कठोर और कड़वे वचन छोड़कर, मीठे वचन को अपना लेना चाहिए।

Kindness is the root of religion, pride is the root of sin.
