हर वर्ष 20 अगस्त को भारत में सद्भावना दिवस मनाया जाता है जो भारत के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी की जयंती का स्मरण करता है बल्कि, यह दिन न केवल उनके योगदान को श्रद्धांजलि देने का अवसर है, बल्कि समाज में आपसी समझ, सहिष्णुता और शांति को बढ़ावा देने का प्रतीक भी है.
सद्भावना शब्द दो भागों से मिलकर बना है-‘सद्’ यानी अच्छा और ‘भावना’ यानी भावना या सोच. सद्भावना दिवस मनाने की शुरुआत वर्ष 1992 में कांग्रेस पार्टी ने शुरू की थी. ज्ञात है कि, पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी का जन्म 20 अगस्त, 1944 को हुआ था.
राजीव गांधी ने आधुनिक भारत की नींव को तकनीकी और युवा ऊर्जा से सशक्त किया. वे मानते थे कि भारत की विविधता उसकी सबसे बड़ी ताकत है. उनके विचारों में सद्भावना केवल एक नैतिक मूल्य नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्र निर्माण की अनिवार्य शर्त थी. सद्भावना दिवस का मुख्य उद्देश्य है कि आपसी मतभेदों और हिंसा को छोड़कर, हमें एक-दूसरे का सम्मान करना चाहिए और मिलकर एक ऐसे समाज का निर्माण करना चाहिए जो समावेशी और शांतिपूर्ण हो.
राजीव गांधी ने अपने प्रधानमंत्री काल में भारत को 21वीं सदी के लिए तैयार करने का प्रयास किया. उन्होंने देश में सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी (IT) और संचार क्रांति की नींव रखी. उन्हें भारत में कंप्यूटर क्रांति का जनक माना जाता है. उन्होंने युवाओं को आगे बढ़ने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के विकास पर भी जोर दिया.
वर्तमान समय में जब समाज में ध्रुवीकरण, असहिष्णुता और वैचारिक टकराव बढ़ रहे हैं, सद्भावना दिवस हमें याद दिलाता है कि मतभेदों के बावजूद हम एक साथ रह सकते हैं. यह दिन हमें सिखाता है कि संवाद, सहमति और सहिष्णुता ही किसी समाज की स्थायी नींव होती है.सद्भावना दिवस केवल एक तिथि नहीं, बल्कि एक विचार है-एक ऐसा विचार जो हमें जोड़ता है, हमें सिखाता है कि विविधता में ही एकता है.

Sadbhavana Diwas
Every year on 20 August, Goodwill Day is celebrated in India, which commemorates the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi. This day is not only an opportunity to pay tribute to his contribution but also a symbol of promoting mutual understanding, tolerance and peace in society.
The word goodwill is made up of two parts – ‘sad’ meaning good and ‘bhavna’ meaning feeling or thinking. The celebration of Goodwill Day was started by the Congress Party in the year 1992. It is known that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was born on 20 August 1944.
Rajiv Gandhi empowered the foundation of modern India with technology and youthful energy. He believed that India’s diversity is its greatest strength. In his views, goodwill was not only a moral value but an essential condition for nation-building. The main objective of Goodwill Day is that, leaving aside mutual differences and violence, we should respect each other and together build a society that is inclusive and peaceful.
Rajiv Gandhi tried to prepare India for the 21st century during his tenure as Prime Minister. He laid the foundation of information technology (IT) and the communication revolution in the country. He is considered the father of the computer revolution in India. He encouraged the youth to move forward and also emphasised the development of rural areas.
At a time when polarization, intolerance and ideological conflicts are increasing in society, Sadbhavana Diwas reminds us that we can live together despite differences. This day teaches us that dialogue, consensus and tolerance are the permanent foundation of any society. Sadbhavana Diwas is not just a date, but an idea – an idea that connects us, teaches us that there is unity in diversity.
