प्रो० गौरी शंकर पासवान ने कहा कि, मानव जीवन में पुस्तकों का विशेष महत्व है. पुस्तकें बच्चों की सच्ची दोस्त होती है. किताबों से प्राप्त ज्ञान भविष्य में आगे का मार्ग दिखाता है. उन्हें उनकी इतिहास का ज्ञान भी कराती है. आज के दिन बच्चों को उनसे संबद्ध पुस्तकों को पढ़ने के लिए प्रेरित किया जाना चाहिए.
प्रो. पासवान ने कहा कि पुस्तकें मुर्दा दिलों में भी जान डाल देती हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि करीब तीन दशक पूर्व का समय बच्चों की रीडिंग हैबिट के लिहाज से स्वर्णयुग था. उस समय टीवी कार्टून, चैनल की मौजूदगी नहीं के बराबर थी. इतना ही नहीं लगभग 5 साल पूर्व बच्चों के हाथों में सिर्फ पुस्तके हुआ करती थी लेकिन, आज उनके हाथों में मोबाइल, स्मार्टफोन, और टीवी रिमोट आ गए हैं, जिनपर गेम खेलना बच्चों की आदत बन गई है. उन्होने कहा कि वर्तमान में हम विजुअल विस्फोट के समय से गुजर रहे हैं. इनमें पुस्तकों से दोस्ती की बात बेमानी लगती है. स्मार्टफोन की दखल बढ़ गई है. नई पीढ़ी के पास छपी हुई पुस्तकों के बजाय किताबों का खाजाना आ गया है. इस पीढ़ी के छात्र छोटी सी पेन ड्राइव में दर्जनों पुस्तकें हर समय रखने लगे हैं. इंटरनेट के कारण बच्चे बहुत आगे बढ़ गए हैं.
प्रो. पासवान ने कहा कि, आज किताबें छापने भी बंद होने लगी है. जैसे दोहा, कविता कहानियां लतीफा चुटकुले कहावतें, कोटेशन, और सूक्तियां इत्यादि पुस्तकों में नहीं बल्कि स्मार्टफोन में ही मिल जाते हैं. यूट्यूब में ये सभी उपलब्ध हैं. ऐसा लगता है कि आने वाले लगभग 30 वर्षों में अखबार, पत्रिका और किताबों के छापने का काम बंद हो सकता है. क्योंकि वर्तमान परिप्रेक्ष्य में युवक अपनी किताब खुद छाप लेते हैं,और बेच भी देते हैं. यह सब आज के बच्चों के बाएं हाथ का खेल हो गया है. उन्होंने कहा कि विश्व विख्यात लेखक एंडरसन का जन्म 02 अप्रैल 1805 को हुआ था, जिन्हें सामान देने के लिए 02 अप्रैल 1967 से मनाया जाता है.

Prof. Gauri Shankar Paswan said that books have special importance in human life. Books are true friends of children. Knowledge gained from books shows the way forward in the future. It also makes them aware of their history. On this day children should be motivated to read books related to them.
Pro. Paswan said that books infuse life even in dead hearts. He said that about three decades ago was the golden age in terms of children’s reading habits. At that time the presence of TV cartoon channels was negligible. Not only this, about 5 years ago children used to have only books in their hands, but today mobiles, smartphones, and TV remotes have come into their hands, on which playing games has become a habit of children. He said that at present we are passing through the time of the visual explosion. In this, the talk of friendship with books seems meaningless. Smartphone interference has increased. Instead of printed books, the new generation has got a treasure of books. Students of this generation have started keeping dozens of books in a small pen drive all the time. Children have progressed a lot because of the internet.
Pro. Paswan said that today the printing of books has also started to stop. Like dohas, poetry stories, Latifa jokes, proverbs, quotations, aphorisms, etc. are not found in books but only in smartphones. All these are available on youtube. It seems that in the coming 30 years, the printing of newspapers, magazines, and books may stop. Because in the current perspective, youths print their books and also sell them. All this has become a game for the left hand of today’s children. He said that the world-famous writer Andersen was born on 02 April 1805, which is celebrated from 02 April 1967 to give goods.
