भारत के पूर्व उप प्रधानमंत्री बाबू जगजीवन राम के 115 वी जयंती के अवसर पर केकेएम कॉलेज स्थित अनुसूचित जाति/ जनजाति कल्याण छात्रावास के परिसंवाद हॉल में ‘राष्ट्र निर्माण में बाबू जगजीवन राम की भूमिका’ विषय पर एक सिंपोजियम का आयोजन किया गया, जिसकी अध्यक्षता राजनीतिक विज्ञान के एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर सह छात्रावास अधीक्षक डॉ. देवेंद्र कुमार गोयल ने की। मौके पर कई प्राध्यापक एवं छात्र उपस्थित थे
इस कार्यक्रम के मुख्य वक्ता के बतौर बोलते हुए केकेएम कॉलेज के सहायक प्राचार्य डॉ.(प्रो.)गौरी शंकर पासवान ने कहा कि जगजीवन बाबू भारत की महान आत्मा थे। वे उत्कृष्ट कोटि के राजनीतिज्ञ एवं डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर के बाद सबसे बड़े समतामूलक समाज के निर्माता थे। सन 1946 से 1986 तक अर्थात मृत्युपर्यंत निर्बाध रूप से संसद में सर्वाधिक प्रतिनिधित्व करने का उनका रिकॉर्ड है। भारत सरकार में वे श्रम मंत्री से लेकर संचार मंत्री तक, रेल मंत्री से लेकर कृषि मंत्री तक, रक्षा मंत्री से लेकर उप प्रधानमंत्री तक बने और राष्ट्र के निर्माण में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिए। उन्होंने फर्श से लेकर अर्श तक की बुलंदियां प्राप्त की। यदि सन 1977 में चौधरी चरण सिंह आड़े नहीं आते, तो भारत के प्रथम दलित प्रधानमंत्री बाबू जगजीवन राम होते । इतने बड़े बुद्धिमान, योग्य, अनुभवी और कुशल राजनीतिज्ञ जगजीवन बाबू को प्रधानमंत्री नहीं बनने का देश और समाज के सभी वर्ग के लोगों को हमेशा अफसोस रहेगा। ऐसे महामानव पर हमें गर्व है कि वह हमारे बिहार प्रांत के थे। प्रो. पासवान ने कहा कि 1971 के भारत पाकिस्तान युद्ध में उन्होंने रक्षा मंत्री के रूप में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका अदा की थी। बाबू जगजीवन राम की उपलब्धियां इतनी है कि उन्हें बहुत पहले ही भारत रत्न से नवाजा जाना चाहिए था। केंद्र सरकार से हमारी मांग है कि बाबू जगजीवन राम को मरणोपरांत भारत रत्न से अलंकृत किया जाना चाहिए।
अपने अध्यक्षीय संबोधन में छात्रावास अधीक्षक डॉ.प्रो.देवेंद्र कुमार गोयल ने कहा कि बाबू जगजीवन राम भारत के महान राजनेता थे। वे देश के प्रथम दलित उप प्रधानमंत्री थे। उनकी योग्यता, बुद्धिमता, और उपलब्धियां काबिले तारीफ है। जगजीवन बाबू के अंदर देवोपम गुणों के खान थे। उन्हें बाबूजी के नाम से जाना जाता है। श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी उन्हें बाबूजी के नाम से ही पुकारती थीं। उन्होंने कहा कि देश के नवनिर्माण में जगजीवन बाबू की भूमिका को नजरअंदाज नहीं कर सकते। वे बिहार के शान थे। उनके विचार और सिद्धांत आज भी उपादेय हैं।
इतिहास के विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ.सत्यार्थ प्रकाश ने कहा कि पूर्व उप प्रधानमंत्री स्वर्गीय जगजीवन बाबू स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के क्रांतिकारी सिपाही थे। वे अंग्रेजों के प्रलोभन में कभी नहीं आए, और ब्रिटिश हुकूमत के विरुद्ध भारत के साथ रहे। जगजीवन बाबू हमेशा शांति एवं सद्भावना में यकीन करते थे। हमें गर्व है ऐसे ऐतिहासिक महापुरुष पर जो अपने ही बिहार शाहाबाद आरा के थे. उन्होंने कहा कि जगजीवन बाबू संविधान सभा के सक्रिय मेंबर भी रह चुके हैं । केंद्र में कई विभागों के कैबिनेट मंत्री के रूप में उनका कार्य सराहनीय रहा है । उनके राजनीतिक विचार बहुत ऊंचे थे। ऐसे महामानव के विचारों और बताएं मार्गों पर हमें चलने की जरूरत है।
अर्थशास्त्र के सहायक प्राध्यापक प्रो. सरदार राम एवं प्रो.अजीत कुमार भारती ने कहा कि बाबू जगजीवन राम दूरदर्शी और उदारवादी पुरुष थे। वे राजनीति के कुशल योद्धा थे। केंद्रीय कृषि मंत्री के रूप में हरित क्रांति लाने में उनकी अहम भूमिका रही है। जगजीवन बाबू संचार, परिवहन, रेल, खाद्य, कृषि, और रक्षा मंत्री के रूप में देश निर्माण और विकास में जो योगदान गया है, वह आज भी स्मरणीय है।
मौके पर केकेएम कॉलेज के प्रो. शुभम कुमार और छात्रवास के चंचल कुमार, संजीव कुमार आदि दर्जनों छात्र उपस्थित थे ।

Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Role in nation building
On the occasion of the 115th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister of India, Babu Jagjivan Ram, a symposium on the topic ‘Role of Babu Jagjivan Ram in nation building’ was organized in the Conference Hall of SC/ST Welfare Hostel, KKM College. Which was presided over by Dr. Devendra Kumar Goyal, Associate Professor cum Hostel Superintendent of Political Science. Many professors and students were present on the occasion.
Speaking as the keynote speaker of the program, Dr. (Prof.) Gauri Shankar Paswan, Assistant Principal, KKM College, said that Jagjivan Babu was a great soul of India. He was an excellent politician and the creator of the biggest egalitarian society after Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. From 1946 to 1986, that is, till his death, he has the record of maximum representation in the Parliament. In the Government of India, he became from Labor Minister to Communications Minister, Railway Minister to Agriculture Minister, and Defense Minister to Deputy Prime Minister and contributed significantly to the building of the nation. He attained heights from floor to arch. Had Chaudhary Charan Singh not come in the way in 1977, India’s first Dalit Prime Minister would have been Babu Jagjivan Ram. People from all sections of the country and society will always regret that such a very intelligent, capable, experienced, and efficient politician Jagjivan Babu did not become the Prime Minister. We are proud of such a great man who belonged to our Bihar province. Pro. Paswan said that he had played an important role in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war as Defense Minister. Babu Jagjivan Ram’s achievements are so much that he should have been awarded Bharat Ratna long back. We demand from the Central Government that Babu Jagjivan Ram should be decorated with Bharat Ratna posthumously.
In his presidential address, Hostel Superintendent Dr. Prof. Devendra Kumar Goyal said that Babu Jagjivan Ram was a great statesman of India. He was the first Dalit Deputy Prime Minister of the country. His ability, intelligence, and achievements are commendable. Devopam was a mine of qualities inside Jagjivan Babu. He is known as Babuji. Mrs. Indira Gandhi used to call him by the name of Babuji. He said that the role of Jagjivan Babu cannot be ignored as the Navnirman of the country. He was the pride of Bihar. His thoughts and principles are still applicable today.
Head of the Department of History, Dr. Satyarth Prakash said that former Deputy Prime Minister late Jagjivan Babu was a revolutionary soldier of the freedom movement. He never came under the temptation of the British and stayed with India against British rule. Jagjivan Babu always believed in peace and harmony. We are proud of such a historical great man who belonged to his own Bihar Shahabad Ara. He said that Jagjivan Babu has also been an active member of the Constituent Assembly. His work as cabinet minister of many departments in the center has been commendable. His political views were very high. We need to follow the thoughts and paths shown by such a great man.
Assistant Professor of Economics Prof. Sardar Ram and Prof. Ajit Kumar Bharti said that Babu Jagjivan Ram was a visionary and liberal man. He was a skilled warrior of politics. He has played an important role in bringing the Green Revolution as the Union Agriculture Minister. Jagjivan Babu’s contribution to country building and development as the Minister of Communications, Transport, Railways, Food, Agriculture, and Defense is still memorable.
