दस महाविद्याओं में छठी महाविद्या हैं मां छिन्नमस्ता. मां छिन्नमस्ता का स्वरूप जितना रहस्यमय है, उतना ही उसका आध्यात्मिक और तांत्रिक महत्व है. इनका स्वरूप अत्यंत विलक्षण, उग्र और रहस्यमयी है, जो जीवन, मृत्यु और पुनर्जन्म के चक्र को दर्शाता है. छिन्नमस्ता का अर्थ है “कटा हुआ सिर”. इनकी प्रतिमा में वे स्वयं अपना सिर काटते हुए, उस कटी हुई गर्दन से निकली रक्त की तीन धाराओं में से एक को स्वयं पीते हुए और बाकी दो धाराओं को अपनी दो योगिनियों – डाकिनी और वर्णिनी – को अर्पित करते हुए दिखाई देती हैं.
कथा: –
एक बार मां भवानी अपनी दो सहेलियों डाकिनी और वर्णिनी के साथ मंदाकिनी नदी में स्नान कर रही थीं. स्नान के बाद उन्हें बहुत तेज भूख लगी. उन्होंने शिव से भोजन मांगा, लेकिन जब भोजन नहीं मिला, तो डाकिनी और वर्णिनी ने मां से भूख शांत करने के लिए कहा. तब दयालु मां ने अपने योग बल से अपना सिर काट लिया. उनके कटे हुए सिर से रक्त की तीन धाराएं निकलीं, जिनमें से एक को उन्होंने स्वयं पिया और बाकी दो धाराओं को अपनी सहेलियों को दिया. इस प्रकार, उन्होंने अपनी और अपनी योगिनियों की भूख शांत की.
मां छिन्नमस्ता का संबंध हठ योग और कुंडलिनी शक्ति से भी है. वे कुंडलिनी जागरण और चक्रों के भेदन में सहायक मानी जाती हैं. इनकी पूजा मुख्य रूप से गुप्त नवरात्रि और विशेष तांत्रिक अनुष्ठानों के दौरान की जाती है. मां छिन्नमस्ता की साधना अत्यंत गोपनीय और तीव्र मानी जाती है. यह मुख्य रूप से तांत्रिकों, योगियों और साधकों द्वारा की जाती है जो आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान, सिद्धियां और मोक्ष की कामना करते हैं. इनकी साधना से साधक को अदम्य शक्ति, शत्रुओं पर विजय, वाक् सिद्धि और मानसिक शांति प्राप्त होती है. यह साधना भय को दूर करने और आंतरिक शक्ति को जागृत करने में भी सहायक मानी जाती है.
मां छिन्नमस्ता मंदिर, रजरप्पा, झारखंड: – यह मंदिर भारत के 51 शक्ति पीठों में से एक माना जाता है और मां छिन्नमस्ता को समर्पित सबसे महत्वपूर्ण तीर्थ स्थलों में से एक है. नवरात्रि के दौरान यहां भक्तों की भारी भीड़ रहती है. मां छिन्नमस्ता का स्वरूप भले ही भयावह प्रतीत होता हो, लेकिन वे आत्म-त्याग, परिवर्तन और सर्वोच्च ज्ञान की देवी हैं. उनकी पूजा हमें यह सिखाती है कि, जीवन में उच्च लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने के लिए हमें अपने अहंकार और सांसारिक बंधनों को त्यागना होगा.

Maa Chinnamasta…

Of the ten Mahavidyas, Maa Chinnamasta is the sixth Mahavidya. Maa Chinnamasta’s form is as mysterious as her spiritual and tantric significance. Her form is extremely unique, fierce and mysterious, which depicts the cycle of life, death and rebirth. Chinnamasta means “severed head” and in her idol, she is seen cutting her head herself, drinking one of the three streams of blood coming out of that severed neck and offering the other two streams to her two yoginis – Dakini and Varnini.
Story: –
Once, Maa Bhavani was bathing in the Mandakini River with her two friends, Dakini and Varnini. After bathing, she felt very hungry. She asked Shiva for food, but when she did not get food, Dakini and Varnini asked the mother to quench her hunger. Then the kind mother cut off her head with her yogic power. Three streams of blood came out of her severed head, one of which she drank herself and gave the other two streams to her friends. Thus, she satisfied the hunger of herself and her yoginis.
Maa Chhinnamasta is also associated with Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Shakti. She is considered helpful in Kundalini awakening and piercing the chakras. She is worshipped mainly during the Gupt Navratri and special Tantric rituals. The sadhana of Maa Chhinnamasta is considered extremely secretive and intense. It is mainly performed by Tantriks, Yogis and Sadhaks who wish for spiritual knowledge, siddhis and salvation. By her sadhana, the Sadhak gets indomitable power, victory over enemies, Vak Siddhi and mental peace. This sadhana is also considered helpful in removing fear and awakening inner power.
Maa Chhinnamasta Temple, Rajrappa, and Jharkhand: This temple is considered one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of India and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites dedicated to Maa Chhinnamasta. It is thronged by devotees, especially during Navratri. Maa Chhinnamasta may appear fearsome in appearance, but she is the goddess of self-sacrifice, transformation and supreme wisdom. Her worship teaches us that, to achieve higher goals in life, we have to give up our ego and worldly attachments.
