बेल…

हिन्दू धर्म में कई ऐसे वृक्ष हैं जिनका इतिहास वैदिक काल से मिलता है. इन वृक्षों में प्रमुख हैं  पीपल, आम, परिजात पलाश और बेल. धार्मिक दृष्टीकोन से महत्वपूर्ण होने के कारण इन्हें मन्दिरों के पास लगाया जाता है. आज हम बात कर रहे हैं एक ऐसे वृक्ष कि, जिसका वर्णन धार्मिक ग्रन्थों में खासकर शिव पुराण और यजुर्वेद में विस्तृत रूप से वर्णन मिलता है. इस वृक्ष का हिंदी नाम बेल, विली या श्रीफल तथा संस्कृत में बिल्य, श्रीफल, पूतिवात, शैलपत्र, लक्ष्मीपुत्र और शिवेष्ट और अंग्रेजी में बेल फ्रूट कहते हैं. इसका वैज्ञानिक नाम ऐगल मारमेलॉस है. बेल फल के अन्य नाम शाण्डिल्रू (पीड़ा निवारक), श्री फल और सदाफल है इसके गुदा या मज्जा को बल्वकर्कटी तथा सूखा गूदा को बेलगिरी कहते हैं.

बेल के वृक्ष सारे भारत में, विशेषतः हिमालय की तराई में, सूखे पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों में 4000 फीट की ऊँचाई तक पाये जाते हैं. मध्य व दक्षिण भारत में बेल का वृक्ष जंगल के रूप में पाया जाता है. इसके पेड़ प्राकृतिक रूप से भारत के अलावा दक्षिणी नेपाल, श्रीलंका, म्यांमार, पाकिस्तान, बांग्लादेश, वियतनाम, लाओस, कम्बोडिया, थाईलैंड, उत्तरी मलय प्रायद्वीप, जावा, फिलिपिन्स और फिजी द्वीप समूह में पाई जाती है.

स्कन्दपुराण में बेल वृक्ष की उत्त्पति के सम्बन्ध में कहा गया है कि, एक बार देवी ने अपनी ललाट से पसीना पोछकर फेंका, जिसकी कुछ बूंदें मंदार पर्वत पर गिरीं, जिससे बेल वृक्ष उत्पन्न हुआ. इस वृक्ष की जड़ों में गिरिजा, तना में महेश्वरी, शाखाओं में दक्षयायनी, पत्तियों में पार्वती, फूलों में गौरी और फलों में कात्यानी निवास करती हैं. कहा जाता है कि बेल वृक्ष के कांटों में भी कई शक्तियाँ समाहित होती है. यह भी माना जाता है कि देवी महालक्ष्मी का भी बेल वृक्ष में निवास होता है.

भगवान शिव की पूजा में बिल्व पत्र या यूँ कहें कि, बेलपत्र  का विशेष महत्व है. कहा जाता है कि, महादेव एक बेलपत्र अर्पण करने से भी प्रसन्न हो जाते है, इसलिए तो उन्हें ‘आशुतोष’ भी कहा जाता है. सामान्य तौर पर बेलपत्र में एक साथ तीन पत्तियाँ जुड़ी रहती हैं, जिसे  ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश का प्रतीक माना जाता है. मान्यता यह भी है कि, इसके मूल या यूँ कहें कि, जड़ में महादेव का वास होता है. इसके तीन पत्तों को जो एक साथ होते हैं उन्हे त्रिदेव का स्वरूप मानते हैं परंतु पाँच पत्तों के समूह वाले को अधिक शुभ माना जाता है, जिसका वर्णन धर्मग्रन्थों में भी मिलता है.

बेल के पत्ते संयुक्त विपत्रक व गंध युक्त होते हैं और स्वाद में तीखे होते हैं, इसके फूल हरी आभा लिए सफेद रंग के होते हैं व इनकी सुगंध भीनी व मनभावनी होती है. बेल का फल ५-१७ सेंटीमीटर व्यास के होते हैं. इसका फल हल्के हरे रंग का खोल कड़ा व चिकना होता है जो पकने पर हरे से सुनहरे पीले रंग का हो जाता है जिसे तोड़ने पर मीठा रेशेदार सुगंधित गूदा निकलता है.

आयुर्वेद में बेल वृक्ष को कई प्रकार से लाभकारी बताया गया है. इसके पत्ते, फल और छाल का प्रयोग औषधी के रूप में किया जाता है.

  1. बेल के सेवन से पेट के कीटाणु मर जाते हैं.
  2. बेल का सेवन करने से पाचन सम्बंधित विकार ठीक होते हैं.
  3. बेल के सेवन से पाचन तंत्र दुरुस्त रहता है.
  4. स्कर्वी (Scurvy) रोग में बेल का सेवन करने से लाभ मिलता है.
  5. बेल के सेवन से बवासीर (Piles) रोग का उपचार होता है.
  6. बेल का सेवन करने से गुर्दों (Kidney) से सम्बंधित विकारों में लाभ मिलता है.
  7. बेल के सेवन से शरीर में उर्जा का स्तर बढ़ता है.
  8. बेल का सेवन करने से शरीर में रक्त साफ होता है.

नोट :- अधिक बेल का सेवन करने से पेट से सम्बंधित समस्या हो सकती है. अत: इनका सेवन करने से पहले चिकित्सक से सलाह लेना चाहिए.

There are many such trees in the Hindu religion whose history dates back to the Vedic period. Peepal, mango, Parijat Palash, and Bael are prominent among these trees. Being important from a religious point of view, they are planted near temples. Today we are talking about such a tree, whose description is found in detail in religious texts, especially in Shiva Purana and Yajurveda. The Hindi name of this tree is Bel, Vili, or Shreefal and in Sanskrit, it is called Bilya, Shreefal, Putivat, Shailpatra, Lakshmiputra, and Shiveshta, and Bell Fruit in English. Its scientific name is Aegle marmeloss. Other names of Bael fruit are Shandilru (pain reliever), Shree Phal, and Sadafal. Its pulp or marrow is called Balvakarkati and dried pulp is called Belgiri.

Bael trees are found all over India, especially in the foothills of the Himalayas, in dry hilly areas up to a height of 4000 feet. Bael tree is found in the form of forests in Central and South India. Apart from India, its trees are naturally found in southern Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the northern Malay Peninsula, Java, the Philippines, and Fiji Islands.

Regarding the origin of the Bael tree in Skandpuran, it has been said that once the goddess threw sweat from her forehead, some drops of which fell on the Mandar mountain, from which the Bael tree was born. Girija resides in the roots of this tree, Maheshwari in the trunk, Dakshayani in the branches, Parvati in the leaves, Gauri in the flowers, and Katyani in the fruits. It is said that many powers are contained in the thorns of the Bael tree. It is also believed that Goddess Mahalakshmi also resides in the Bael tree.

In the worship of Lord Shiva, Bilva Patra, or in other words, Belpatra has special importance. It is said that Mahadev becomes pleased even by offering a belpatra, which is why he is also called ‘Ashutosh’. Generally, three leaves are attached together in Belpatra, which is considered to be the symbol of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. It is also believed that Mahadev resides in its root or in other words, in its root. Its three leaves which are together are considered as the form of Tridev, but the group of five leaves is considered more auspicious, the description of which is also found in the scriptures.

The leaves of Bael are jointed and odorous and are pungent in taste, its flowers are white in color with a greenish aura and their fragrance is pleasant and pleasant. The fruits of Bael are 5-17 cm in diameter. Its light green colored shell is hard and smooth, which turns from green to golden yellow when ripe, and when broken, sweet fibrous aromatic pulp emerges.

In Ayurveda, the Bael tree has been described as beneficial in many ways. Its leaves, fruits, and bark are used as medicine.

  1. Stomach germs die by consuming Bael.
  2. Digestive disorders are cured by taking Bael.
  3. The digestive system remains healthy by consuming Bael.
  4. Consuming Bael is beneficial for scurvy disease.
  5. Piles disease is cured by consuming Bael.
  6. Consuming Bael gives benefits to kidney-related disorders.
  7. Consumption of Bael increases the energy level in the body.
  8. Consuming vine cleanses the blood in the body.

Note:- Consuming more Bael can cause stomach-related problems. Therefore, a doctor should be consulted before consuming them.
