1. प्राचीन भारत संबंधी सांस्कृतिक अनुसंधानों के प्रारम्भकर्ता विलियम जोंस: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1746 में प्राचीन भारत संबंधी सांस्कृतिक अनुसंधानों के प्रारम्भकर्ता विलियम जोंस का जन्म लंदन में हुआ था. जोंस ने ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड से शिक्षा प्राप्त की थी. इसके बाद शीघ्र ही इन्होंने इब्रानी, फ़ारसी, अरबी और चीनी भाषाओं का अध्ययन कर लिया.  इन्होने नादिरशाह के जीवन वृत्त का फ़ारसी भाषा से फ्रेंच भाषा का अनुवाद वर्ष 1770 में प्रकाशित हुआ था. भारत में सर विलियम जोंस ने पूर्वी विषयों के अध्ययन में गंभीर रुचि जाहिर की और उन्होंने संस्कृत का भी अध्ययन किया। जोंस ने वर्ष 1784 में ‘बंगाल एशियाटिक सोसाइटी’ की स्थापना की, जिससे भारत के इतिहास, पुरातत्व, विशेषकर साहित्य और विधिशास्त्र संबंधी अध्ययन की नींव पड़ी थी.
2. दिल्ली का शासन संभाला: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1837 में अपने पिता की मृत्यु के बाद बहादुर शाह द्वितीय को मुगल बादशाह बनाया गया था. बताते चलें कि, भारत के प्रथम स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने की जफर को भारी कीमत भी चुकानी पड़ी थी.
3. साहित्यकार श्रीनारायण चतुर्वेदी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1885 में साहित्यकार श्रीनारायण चतुर्वेदी का जन्म उत्तर-प्रदेश के इटावा जनपद में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम द्वारिका प्रसाद शर्मा चतुर्वेदी था जो उस वक्त के संस्कृत भाषा के नामी विद्वान थे तथा उन्होंने सौ से अधिक पुस्तकों की रचना की थी. चतुर्वेदी की शिक्षा इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से हुई थी. इतिहास विषय में उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद इन्होंने कुछ समय तक अध्यापन कार्य किया था. वर्ष 1925 में उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार की छात्रवृति मिलने पर शिक्षा शास्त्र में उच्च अध्ययन के लिए ये इंग्लैण्ड गये वहां लंदन विश्वविद्यालय से शिक्षा शास्त्र में एम.ए. करने के बाद वर्ष 1928 में उत्तर प्रदेश के शिक्षा विभाग में अधिकारी नियुक्त किए गए थे. चतुर्वेदी अपने सेवाकाल से ही हिन्दी के प्रचार-प्रसार के लिए विशेष रूप से सक्रिय थे.
4. पत्रकार और स्वतंत्रता सेनानी रामहरख सिंह सहगल: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1896 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी रामहरख सिंह सहगल का जन्म लाहौर में हुआ था. उन्होंने वर्ष 1923 में पत्रकारीता जीवन की शुरुआत इलाहाबाद से ‘चांद’ मासिक पत्रिका प्रकाशित करने के साथ शुरू किया था. बताते चलें कि, सहगल ने ही पत्रिकाओं में विशेषांक प्रकाशित करने की परंपरा का शुरुआत किया था.
5. अमर शहीद भगत सिंह: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1907 में अमर शहीद भगत सिंह का जन्म पंजाब के ज़िला लायलपुर में बंगा गाँव (पाकिस्तान) के एक सिक्ख परिवार में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम ‘सरदार किशन सिंह था. जिस वक्त भगत सिंह का जन्म हुआ था तब उनके पिता और दो चाचा को जेल से रिहा किया गया था. भगत सिंह करीब 14 वर्ष की आयु से ही पंजाब की क्रान्तिकारी संस्थाओं में कार्य करने लगे थे. वर्ष 1923 में इंटरमीडिएट की परीक्षा पास करने के बाद उन्हें विवाह बन्धन में बाँधने की तैयारियाँ होने लगीं तो वे लाहौर से भागकर कानपुर आ गये थे. कानपुर में उन्हें गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी का हार्दिक सहयोग भी प्राप्त हुआ था. देश की स्वतंत्रता के लिए अखिल भारतीय स्तर पर क्रान्तिकारी दल का पुनर्गठन करने का श्रेय सरदार भगत सिंह को ही जाता है. वर्ष 1920 के महात्मा गांधी के असहयोग आंदोलन से प्रभावित होकर 1921 में भगत सिंह ने स्कूल छोड़ दिया था. असहयोग आंदोलन से प्रभावित छात्रों के लिए लाला लाजपत राय ने लाहौर में ‘नेशनल कॉलेज’ की स्थापना की थी. वर्ष 1928 में ‘सांडर्स हत्याकाण्ड’ के वे प्रमुख नायक थे साथ ही वो वर्ष 1929 को ऐतिहासिक ‘असेम्बली बमकाण्ड’ के भी वे प्रमुख अभियुक्त माने गये थे.
6. अभिनेता पी. जयराज: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1909 में अभिनेता पी. जयराज का जन्म निजाम स्टेट के करीमनगर ज़िले में हुआ था. इनका पूरा नाम ‘पाइदीपाटी जैरुला नाइडू’ है. उनकी प्रारंम्भिक शिक्षा हैदराबाद के रोमन कैथोलिक स्कूल में हुई थी. युवा जयराज, अपनी किस्मत आजमाने के लिए वर्ष 1929 में मुम्बई आ गये थे. जयराज ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1929 में नागेन्द्र मजूमदार ने ही प्रथम फ़िल्म ‘जगमगाती जवानी’ से की थी. बताते चलें कि, जयराज ने मूक फ़िल्मों के दौर से लेकर वर्तमान दौर तक की अनेक फ़िल्मों में काम किया है.
7. साहित्यिकार कल्याण मल लोढ़ा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1921 में साहित्यिकार कल्याण मल लोढ़ा का जन्म जोधपुर, राजस्थान के एक जैन परिवार में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम चन्दमलजी लोढ़ा जो तत्कालीन जोधपुर राज्य में उच्च अधिकारी थे और उनकी माता का नाम सूरज कंवर था. कल्याण मल लोढ़ा कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय में हिंदी विभाग के प्रमुख थे. लोढ़ा अपनी ओजपूर्ण वाक्शैली के लिए देश भर में जाने जाते थे. वर्ष 2003 में कल्याण मल लोढ़ा को भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ के ‘मूर्ति देवी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था.
8. पार्श्वगायिका लता मंगेशकर: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1929 में लता मंगेशकर का जन्म इंदौर, मध्यप्रदेश के एक संगीतज्ञ परिवार में हुआ था. इनका पूरा नाम कुमारी लता दीनानाथ मंगेशकर था. इनके पिता का नाम दीनानाथ मंगेशकर है जो संगीतज्ञ थे. लता जब पॉँच वर्ष की थीं तभी बसे उन्होंने अपने पिता से संगीत की शिक्षा लेनी शुरू कर दी थी. उनके साथ उनकी बहनें आशा, ऊषा और मीना भी सीखा करतीं थीं. लता जब 13 वर्ष की थीं तभी उनके पिता का देहांत हो गया और लता के नाजुक कंधे पर सारी ज़िम्मेदारियाँ आ गई थी. अपने परिवार के भरण पोषण के लिये उन्होंने 1942-48 तक हिन्दी व मराठी में क़रीब 08 फ़िल्मों में भी काम किया था. वर्ष 1947 में लता को फ़िल्म “आपकी सेवा में” एक गीत गाने  का मौका मिला था उसके लता ने पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा था.’स्वर कोकिला’ लता मंगेशकर ने 20 भाषाओं में 30,000 गाने गाये थे.
9. मुख्य न्यायाधीश राजेन्द्र मल लोढ़ा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में भारत के 41वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश राजेन्द्र मल लोढ़ा का जन्म राजस्थान के जोधपुर ज़िले में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम एस. के. मल लोढ़ा जो ‘राजस्थान हाईकोर्ट’ के न्यायाधीश थे. राजेन्द्र ने अपनी बी.एस.सी. तथा एल.एल.बी. की डिग्री ‘जोधपुर यूनिवर्सिटी’, राजस्थान से प्राप्त की थी. राजेन्द्र ने वर्ष 1973 में बतौर एडवोकेट ‘बार काउंसिल ऑफ़ राजस्थान’ में अपना रजिस्ट्रेशन कराया और अपनी प्रैक्टिस शुरू की थी.
10. निशानेबाज़ अभिनव बिन्द्रा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1982 में निशानेबाज़ अभिनव बिन्द्रा का जन्म देहरादून में हुआ था. बिंद्रा ने 15 वर्ष की उम्र से निशानेबाजी करना प्रारंभ किया था. वर्ष 2000 में अभिनव सिडनी ओलिम्पिक के सबसे युवा निशानेबाज बने थे. अभिनव को वर्ष 2009 में भारत सरकार द्वारा खेल के क्षेत्र में पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित किया गया था.
11. अभिनेता रणबीर कपूर: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1982 में अभिनेता रणबीर कपूर का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम ऋषि कपूर और मां नीतू कपूर हिंदी फिल्‍मों के मशहूर अभिनेता और अभिनेत्री रहे हैं. रणबीर की एक बहन भी हैं जिनका नाम रिद्धिमा है. रणबीर की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा स्‍‍काटिश स्‍कूल, माहिम से पूरी की है लेकिन उनका कभी भी पढ़ाई की तरफ झुकाव न‍हीं रहा। एच आर कॉलेज ऑफ कॉमर्स एंड इकनामिक्‍स से पढ़ाई करने के बाद वे फिल्‍म मेंकिंग के गुर सीखने के लिए न्‍यूयार्क के स्‍कूल ऑफ विजुअल आर्टस चले गए थे. रणबीर ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरूआत फिल्‍म ‘सांवरिया’ से की थी. रणबीर कपूर महिला सशक्तिकरण के समर्थक हैं और शबाना आजमी के एनजीओ ‘मिजवान वेलफेयर सोसाइटी’ के गुडविल ब्रांड एम्बेसेडर भी हैं.
12. अभिनेत्री मौनी रॉय: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में अभिनेत्री मौनी रॉय का जन्म कूच बिहार, पश्चिम बंगाल में एक बंगाली परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम अनिल रॉय और माता का नाम मुक्ति रॉय है. मौनी ने अपनी पढाई केन्द्रीय विद्यालय से पूरी की और उसके बाद मॉस कम्युनिकेशन की पढ़ाई जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया से पूरी की. मौनी ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2007 में एकता कपूर के टीवी शो, क्यों सास भी कभी बहु थी से की थी. उन्होंने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत पंजाबी फिल्म हीरो हिटलर इन लव से की थी.
13. अभिनेत्री मुनमुन दत्‍ता: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1987 में अभिनेत्री मुनमुन दत्‍ता का जन्म पश्चिम बंगाल के दुर्गापुर में हुआ था. मुनमुन ने अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा कानपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश, ऑक्सफोर्ड मॉडल सीनियर सेकेंडरी स्कूल और कॉलेज से मुंबई विश्वविद्यालय से पूरी की है. छोटी उम्र से ही मुनमुन आकाशवाणी और दूरदर्शन के लिए जाती थी. मुनमुन ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत टेलीविजन धारावाहिक हम सब बाराती से की थी. वहीं, मुनमुन ने वर्ष 2005 में बॉलीवुड कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म मुंबई एक्सप्रेस से की थी.
14. गायिका असीस कौर: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1988 में गायिका असीस कौर का जन्म हरियाणा के पानीपत में हुआ था. उन्‍होंने महज 05 वर्ष की उम्र में गायन चालू कर दिया था. असीस कौर ने अपनी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा करने के बाद एस डी पीजी कॉलेज पातीपत से एम कॉम की डिग्री हासिल की है. असीस कौर ने अपने गायकी कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म सिंबा के गाने ‘अंख लड़ जावै तेरे बिन’ से की थी.

1. William Jones, the initiator of cultural research related to ancient India: – On this day in the year 1746, William Jones, the initiator of cultural research related to ancient India, was born in London. Jones was educated at Oxford. Soon after this, he studied Hebrew, Persian, Arabic and Chinese languages. He translated Nadir Shah’s biography from Persian to French which was published in the year 1770. In India, Sir William Jones expressed serious interest in the study of Eastern subjects and he also studied Sanskrit. Jones founded the ‘Bengal Asiatic Society’ in the year 1784, which laid the foundation for the study of India’s history, archaeology, especially literature and jurisprudence.
2. Took over the rule of Delhi: – On this day in the year 1837, Bahadur Shah II was made the Mughal emperor after the death of his father. Let us tell you that Zafar had to pay a heavy price for playing an important role in India’s first freedom struggle.
3. Litterateur Srinarayan Chaturvedi: – On this day in the year 1885, litterateur Srinarayan Chaturvedi was born in the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name was Dwarika Prasad Sharma Chaturvedi, he was a renowned scholar of the Sanskrit language at that time and had written more than a hundred books. Chaturvedi was educated at Allahabad University. After receiving higher education in history, he did teaching work for some time. In the year 1925, after getting a scholarship from the Uttar Pradesh Government, he went to England for higher studies in Education, where he completed an M.A. in Education from the University of London. After completing his studies, he was appointed as an officer in the Education Department of Uttar Pradesh in the year 1928. Chaturvedi was especially active in the promotion of Hindi since his service days.
4. Journalist and freedom fighter Ramharkh Singh Sehgal: – On this day in the year 1896, freedom fighter Ramharkh Singh Sehgal was born in Lahore. He started his journalism career in the year 1923 by publishing ‘A monthly magazine from Allahabad. Let us tell you that it was Sehgal who started the tradition of publishing special issues in magazines.
5. Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh: – On this day in the year 1907, Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh was born in a Sikh family of Banga village (Pakistan) in Lyallpur district of Punjab. His father’s name was ‘Sardar Kishan Singh. When Bhagat Singh was born, his father and two uncles were released from jail. Bhagat Singh started working in the revolutionary organizations of Punjab at the age of 14. After passing the Intermediate examination in the year 1923, when preparations were being made to tie the knot, he ran away from Lahore and came to Kanpur. In Kanpur, he also received the hearty support of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi. The credit for reorganizing the revolutionary party at the all-India level for the independence of the country goes to Sardar Bhagat Singh. Influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s non-cooperation movement of 1920, Bhagat Singh left school in 1921. Lala Lajpat Rai had established a ‘National College’ in Lahore for the students affected by the non-cooperation movement. He was the main hero of the ‘Sanders murder case’ in the year 1928 and he was also considered the main accused in the historic ‘Assembly Bombing case’ of the year 1929.
6. Actor P. Jayaraj: – On this day in the year 1909, actor P. Jayaraj was born in Karimnagar district of Nizam State. His full name is ‘Paidipati Jairula Naidu’. His early education was in a Roman Catholic school in Hyderabad. Young Jayaraj came to Mumbai in the year 1929 to try his luck. Jayaraj started his acting career in the year 1929 with Nagendra Majumdar’s first film ‘Jagamgati Jawani’. Let us tell you that Jayaraj has worked in many films from the era of silent films to the present era.
7. Writer Kalyan Mal Lodha: – On this day in the year 1921, writer Kalyan Mal Lodha was born in a Jain family in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. His father’s name was Chandmalji Lodha who was a high official in the then Jodhpur state and his mother’s name was Suraj Kanwar. Kalyan Mal Lodha was the head of the Hindi department at Calcutta University. Lodha was known across the country for his powerful oratory style. In the year 2003, Kalyan Mal Lodha was honoured with the ‘Murti Devi Award’ of Bharatiya Jnanpith.
8. Playback singer Lata Mangeshkar: – On this day in the year 1929, Lata Mangeshkar was born in a musician family in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Her full name was Kumari Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar. His father’s name is Dinanath Mangeshkar he was a musician. When Lata was five years old, she started taking music lessons from her father. His sisters Asha, Usha and Meena also used to study with him. When Lata was 13 years old, her father died and all the responsibilities fell on Lata’s delicate shoulders. To support his family, he also worked in about 08 films in Hindi and Marathi from 1942-48. In the year 1947, Lata got a chance to sing a song in the film “Aapki Seva Mein” and she never looked back. ‘Swar Kokila’ Lata Mangeshkar sang 30,000 songs in 20 languages.
9. Chief Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha: – On this day in the year 1949, the 41st Chief Justice of India Rajendra Mal Lodha was born in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. His father’s name is S. Of. Mal Lodha who was the judge of ‘The Rajasthan High Court’. Rajendra did his B.Sc. And an L.L.B. degree from ‘Jodhpur University’, Rajasthan. Rajendra got himself registered as an advocate with ‘The Bar Council of Rajasthan’ in the year 1973 and started his practice.
10. Shooter Abhinav Bindra: – On this day in the year 1982, shooter Abhinav Bindra was born in Dehradun. Bindra started shooting at the age of 15. In the year 2000, Abhinav became the youngest shooter at the Sydney Olympics. Abhinav was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the field of sports by the Government of India in the year 2009.
11. Actor Ranbir Kapoor: – On this day in the year 1982, actor Ranbir Kapoor was born in Mumbai. His father’s name is Rishi Kapoor and his mother’s name is Neetu Kapoor, a famous actor and actress in Hindi films. Ranbir also has a sister named Riddhima. Ranbir completed his primary education at Scottish School, Mahim but he was never inclined towards studies. Mouni completed her studies at Kendriya Vidyalaya and then completed her studies in Mass Communication at Jamia Millia Islamia. Mouni started her acting career in 2007 with Ekta Kapoor’s TV show, Kyun Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He started his acting career with the Punjabi film Hero Hitler in Love.
13. Actress Munmun Dutta: – On this day in the year 1987, actress Munmun Dutta was born in Durgapur, West Bengal. Munmun completed her schooling at Oxford Model Senior Secondary School in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and college at Mumbai University. From a young age, Munmun used to go to All India Radio and Doordarshan. Munmun started her acting career with the television serial Hum Sab Baraati. Whereas, Munmun started her Bollywood career in the year 2005 with the film Mumbai Express.
14. Singer Asees Kaur: – On this day in the year 1988, singer Asees Kaur was born in Panipat, Haryana. He started singing at the age of just 5 years. After completing her primary education, Asees Kaur obtained an M.Com degree from SDPG College, Patipat. Asees Kaur started her singing career with the song ‘Ankh Lad Jaavai Tere Bin’ from the film Simmba.
