अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रवासी दिवस हर वर्ष 18 दिसंबर को मनाया जाता है. यह दिन प्रवासियों के अधिकारों की रक्षा करने और उनके योगदान को पहचानने के उद्देश्य से मनाया जाता है.
संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने वर्ष 1990 में प्रवासी श्रमिकों और उनके परिवारों के सदस्यों के अधिकारों के संरक्षण पर एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन को अपनाया था. बाद में 18 दिसंबर 2000 को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रवासी दिवस घोषित किया गया.
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रवासी दिवस का उद्देश्य प्रवासियों के मानवाधिकारों की सुरक्षा और सम्मान करना. उनकी सामाजिक, आर्थिक और सांस्कृतिक भागीदारी को मान्यता देना व प्रवास संबंधी चुनौतियों और अवसरों के प्रति जागरूकता फैलाना.
हर वर्ष आज ही के दिन के लिए एक खास थीम तय की जाती है. वर्ष 2023 की थीम थी: “It Takes a Community” (यह एक समुदाय की जिम्मेदारी है). प्रवासी दुनिया भर में अर्थव्यवस्था को मजबूत बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं.यह दिन प्रवासियों को होने वाली समस्याओं जैसे विस्थापन, भेदभाव, और अन्याय के प्रति ध्यान आकर्षित करता है.

International Migrants Day
International Migrants Day is celebrated every year on 18 December. This day is celebrated with the aim of protecting the rights of migrants and recognizing their contribution.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted an international convention on the protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families in the year 1990. Later 18 December 2000 was declared International Migrants Day.
The purpose of International Migrants Day is to protect and respect the human rights of migrants. To recognize their social, economic and cultural participation and to spread awareness about migration-related challenges and opportunities.
Every year a special theme is decided for this day. The theme for the year 2023 was: “It Takes a Community”. Migrants play an important role in strengthening the economy around the world. This day draws attention to the problems faced by migrants such as displacement, discrimination, and injustice.
